Hi,

First off all i want to say that human made this file,
are we humans? yes so dont come off whit the ****ing shit that u will not b able to extract the next video!

Ok here's da deal, im going to search on some hackers forums, u know there are people spending all days hacking things for fun? but thay just dont know steam is 1 off that things :), so if i (we) go to search on forums whatever im sure we will find some people that will be interested in hacking something, where valve say: u cant hack it:)

see where im going here?

its not unpossible =)

Its gonna be hard to find someone and get them to succeed before monday.

well see im not talking about 1 person, i dont think its so hard, im looking im sure i will find at leat 1 person.

Did you read the 'Hexing movie 4' thread?

It's becoming more apparant the 4th vid. simply isn't in the cache at all.

Thats what the hackers need to find out , im realy looking very hard, i hope well get lucky in time off tonight !

the cache file is still 400 mb...there has got to be something in there

the cahe file will always be 400Mb, no matter if there is one movie or four... that's the whole point. it
s just filled with zeros (nothing) to make it 400Mb in size, so that when there is something to put in the file, the zeros are replaced with the actual content.

and roxXx: there are plenty of "unpossible" things, one of which is extracting a nonexistent file from another one. if the movie is not in the cache file, then all the "haxx0ring" in the world won't bring it out.

unless he's recruiting in army of people to hax valve software

:\

Assuming he does get a black hat to even talk to him... what if they decide to start messing with the WHOLE steam thing...
If they are good, they could bring all of Steam down.

I bet he'd feel like a jack@ss then... huh?

>Br@d

I wouldnt min all of steam being brought down. Steam is intrusive malware and the wholep project should be brought down.

You're only afraid of it because you don't understand it.

I haven't noticed anything "intrusive" about Steam. and if you feel that way, don't use it. lots of people are satisfied with the software, and that's all that matters.

You're only afraid of it because you don't understand it.

what is there to not understand? has to be one of the simplest programs there is.

But oh, what can you do...

Your gonna ask a hacker for help, then hes gonna find out your IP address and hack your computer. Then he will repeat this process. :)

So all of a sudden because some kids got a hold of some Hex Editors, they're 1337 sup3r H@X0rz?

No, not really.

Seriously, who cares about the next video.. they are just enhanced shots of the e3 demo.. Hacking the cache file is just as retarded as FP getting them before they are released over steam.. it's just not right. Let's all wait til the release them and not worry about seeing them before everyone else because then we can all talk about them at the same time instead of someone seeing them before Valve let's everyone see them.

yea and then they tell you how to do it and send you a nice virus along with movie... srry but ill wait for official..... steam pwns you Koldifre

Valve is not dumb or anything. Maybe they downloaded 90% of the last movie and left 10% for Monday. That makes it pretty much impossible to hack.

LoneDeranger: why is that impossible to hack? wouldn't that just mean that we weren't going to get the last seconds of the movie? endtags and such can be replaced, you know...

although Valve did say that it was going to be impossible(?) to "hack" the next videos, probably because they somehow encrypted them. The only reason Steam is even out before HL2 is to test it thoroughly, and that's what's been done. Hacking it now may only mean that it won't get hacked in the future. There are lots of big companies that hire "hackers" to try and hack their software/websites and thus finding holes and backdoors before any malicious hackers do. It's really the only way of making anything safer.

hahaha who said that s impossible to hack steam lol.
Microsoft and others compagnies have been hacked and they security was more better than steam security so i think that a good hacker can hack steam easely.

You HAVE to be joking "Ok here's da deal" lmao, seriously. who even talks/spells like that? Also you forgot "HACK THE PLANET!!!!"

Oh my God, why don't people understand. The only reason we were able to obtain videos before was because they were already on our computer in the gcache file. Steam was told to do nothing with them so we weren't able to obtain them until we edited the file. The reason we can't get them now is because we don't have any new media on our computer. We downloaded Kleiner's Lab and that was it. People don't seem to understand that they can't get something that's not there.

And to clarify on Lyrids point, Erik Johnson from Valve has already announced that the video won't be preloaded until Monday. MONDAY.
