I just started doing stuff in my Manufacturing class (after 2 weeks of learning the saftey crap required in EVERY tech class..) It took me about 20 minutes to use a hacksaw to cut a 2 1/4 inch diameter cylindrical peice of steel. DAMMIT!

In other news, halflife.net has officially run out of thread topics.

haha, I use a bandsaw at work and cut through 2 inch blocks of stainless steel in a few minutes

We aren't on the machines yet, it's our 2nd week..

@ surfer^rosa: You havn't heard of manufacturing class? Seriously?!?! There is design (Engraving metal and the like), manufacturing, wood working, welding, etc.. holy crap your school is poor if they don't have these classes (I go to a public school, too)

er... no, I never heard of manufacturing class. :p I suppose it's because my school doesn't have any emphasis on the subject, or maybe lower grades do, but I wouldn't know because I just came to Mexico a few years ago.

<3 cyberpitz ^-^ bad tron.

Sounds like my school.

We call those classes "shops".
I'm in a welding one, fun stuff.

When I first heard "Manuafacturing class" I instantly thought of our school system, and thought: "Wow. grades... pooor...." :p

When we get to high school (Grade 10), the schools are divided into 2 groups: the people that are within 70% of the grades go to 'inmun' and the rest goes to 'silup'. Inmun has almost 0 emphasis on manufacturing, but instead science and social studies as well as language. Silup, on the other hand, puts much emphasis on manuafacturing and producing products as well as selling them.

Anyway, I've digressed too much.

I personally liked the electronics welding back in elementary school; making boxes wasn't easy for me.

aww, i was expecting a loss of limb story.....

For some reason I have a "Junior Hacksaw" to do DIY.

Bollocks.
