My 3D Animation Thread

B-B-B-BUMP

This is my visual effects project that me and 3 others completed on friday. We had a little under 3 weeks to learn how to do it and then make it. Ours is a tribute of sorts to a painting done by Zdzislaw Beksinski called Nevermore. Unfortunately the time constraints meant we had to cut some stuff, and due to rendering times, we didnt have time to re-render the clouds to fix the flickering :(

Pretty impressive. Though the wolf looks a bit taxidermy'd.

Probably because we didnt have time to animate him at all, so he is perfectly stiff.

Heres something I just finished a few minutes ago. Just for fun, I tried to do a photo-recreation of a clock tower picture I found on the internets.

If it is bumping shh - bored and browsing...

The Clock Tower looks like normal if you only look at the top, the further down the more you can tell its fake, but overall its pretty darn good.

incredible modelling skills you have. are you using HDRi btw?

For the clock tower? No, that was just one directional light and a point light. I rendered it in maya software with raytrace shadows, and there was a beauty pass, and an occlusion pass.

The bottom could definately use work. In the reference, all the trees are actually in front of the tower, which is what makes it clear that its actually on the ground, but theres no way im going to mask out individual branches of 4 different trees so that I can bring them forward. Ill have to think of a different solution.

Why not? I would.

The only other solution I can think of right now is either finding an already made 2d tree texture complete with mask, or making a 3d tree and actually putting it in the scene in front of the tower...

It would be incredibly tedious, especially since the image i have isnt very high res, so I would need to be selecting individual pixels and such. I think I might try using paintFX, since that will have an alpha with it already. In fact, im going to try it now.

EDIT: I need to do some color correction on the trees so they're not so obviously cg, but I think it helps set the tower in place.
