lol Sorry if this has been posted before but i saw this on phl and its kinda funny and its not about leaks/delays/the end of the world so here ya go....

Chris Bokitch: Fragmaster is so eloquent. I don't like to talk bad about other websites, especially ones claiming to be fan sites, but PHL is really becoming the Fox News of the gaming news scene.


hehe i guess that makes fragmaster the "scarborough country" of half life...

nice to see Valve employees are spending time flaming fan site webmasters instead of providing information about what is going on, they're just mad because he doesnt suck up to them like some of the other sites

Still why is a valve employee making fun of a fan sites ability to report news when Valve themselves isnt providing any information that seems to be true?
 
Yeah i guess you could say that it was taken out fo context sorry i didn't see that... I don't think chris was being mean about it though just stating his opinion... ah well still kinda good to see some one from valve still has a sense of humor i suppose? i dunno...

I guess if fragmaster and phl are the fox news of this whole mess, then valve and vivendi are the donald rumsfield and the department of defence... where as anon hacker dude is saddam hussein "i have you source code of mass destruction hahaha i will never surrender!"
 
Bah Fox News is the best of all the cable news networks. "Oh no it has a conservative side, LETS HATE THEM" As far as i have seen Fox is the only one that i have seen shown both points of view. Plenty of liberal stuff in there too.
 
well i've watched fox news a couple of times, i gotta say i've never heard anything but liberal propaganda from them... maybe i didn't catch the right show i dunno, anyways to answer you question slapdragon im not really sure why, if valve would just do a big press release and let us all know something for crying out loud we would all probably feel a little better... but they won't and i don't know why, so yeah they really don't have a lot of room to talk... i was just trying to lighten the mood in here

I actually doubt that the "anonymous" is the real hacker anyway. In addition to the contradictionn, it just makes so much more sense that this is some kid that downloaded the beta, and thinks that if he threatens Valve, tey'll release more content or the game sooner. The real hacker wouldn't be so clumsy, and they'd include information that actually confirmed their identity in some way: such as mentioning an unreleased thing or a handle that he'd left on Valve's computers. This anonymous didn't do any of that: he just turned some pretty silly speculation (does anyone seriously believe that the e3 areas, (not even complete maps) are the ONLY maps Valve's like 10 map makers have produced over even the last year of work?) into an accusation.

PHL used to be a good site with the guy & his wife there before Fragdick. Now it is incompetently run, little to no updates, or useful information.

Stay away from Planet Bull Shit. It sucks ass

First off, I would appreciate it if you don't use that language..

Second, don't attack people with cursing or anything mean...

Third, its called Gamespy and its one of the best resources out there. You want to know why there are lines at Fileplanet? So many people use it because if you need a popular gaming file, you can get it from there no doubt.

Fourth, being "raped by ads and spyware?" Want to know why they have ads? Because you and a million other people go there...and most of you don't have the Fileplanet subscription with no ads. They have ads for a reason...so they can stay in business.

Lastly, PHL is not incompetently run. There are daily updates keeping YOU and every other Half-life fan up to date on mods and HL2 news.

Fragmaster WAS RIGHT about the delay when you all said he would be wrong.

He knew the truth and it WAS pothetic when we (yes me too) all thought he was crazy and that the game IS coming out September 30 but you know what? It didn't and he was right.

Gamespy isn't in the business so that you can check their website daily for free...they are in the business for money and to please the NICE fans.

I have been involved with Fragmaster (won't mention his name here) for a few months now on getting my GTA site together on Gamespy. He is very nice and always helps me out.

Do NOT attack him as a person.

Sadly enough he was. And I don't agree with an employee representing a large Software Distributor taking cheap shots at him. Though I don't care for the media, too much liberalism, I do agree with conveying the presented evidence. Fragmaster was going off what every web-site presented him. He never said that it was delayed...just that he'd dress up like Gordon Freeman and hand out free copies of HL2 if it wasn't.

I don't think Fragmaster has steered the community in the wrong direction as much as VALVe has, which what they've done is understandable...to a point they've already passed.
Anyway, Fragmaster shouldn't be taking crap from a guy who should be typing in a cubicle. And I don't think VALVe should be announcing a game is going gold, (CZ), when a: It's not GOLD yet. b: They have more important things to do.
Either VALVe has something serious up their sleeve, or they've lost it.

As for Fragmaster, love him or hate him, he's reporting NEWS. He separates his editorial comments appropriately, and if the fact that Fragmaster has BAD news to report on Valve every now and then, then Valve is just going to have to suck it up and deal with it... or, they could work on their forthrightness with their customers. Being pissed at Fragmaster just because he called it like he saw it is just retarded. He wasn't inaccurate in the LEAST in what he said of Valve.

If Valve would come out publicly and make a statement, maybe Chris would be more credible.

Chris gets PAID BY VALVE TO KISS HALF LIFE 2's ASS AND MAKE VALVE LOOK GOOD. Now you tell me who is more credible?

Chris knows NOTHING other then what Gabe and Co. tell him. He is one of Valve's PR goons, ready to jump on a conspiracy theory at the drop of a dime.

2. PHL is incompetently run? Little updates? No useful information? Where the hell have you been? If I recall, they were the only site that accurate predicted the 9/30 release date was going down the toilet while the rest of us (myself included) were in total denial.

I have no problem supporting Valve, but not to the point of fanboyism.
