i have no xbox, but everytime i go to my biddies house i sit there and play burnout for like 6 hours or more, esp on live its so insane. theyre nice enough to let me play when they leave.

yea, revenge is pretty damn awsome too, what a killer concept for a racing game

i loved the ending of halflife 2, when i got to the end, and instead of seeing the cut scene, i heard the audio, and saw a staticy teture map of dr breenes face. totally ruined it for me. citadel was nice, but damn, the clima of the whole game was repetitously launching orbs at this thing in the middle. beat it my first time through, took no skill at all.

Some people complained about the ending being abrupt, and such. I thought it fit in perfectly with the first one, though the launching orbs was pretty lame.

halflife2 was a neat game, nothing as revolutionary as halflfe, did alot of things well, not nothing so totally great as to never be undone. It has a great mod community that makes tons of content, but after 20 hours of gameplay, thats all the game has for it.

hl2 is just as repetitioous or much more so then re4. you fight, umm, combine, spinning thingies, like 150 of them, and umm, oh theres a helicopter, and ummm, i dunno, alot of those, the antlions are cool, but no bosses at all really. re4 was amazing. My friends would sit on the couch and watch me play it for days, and sometimes i would let them play it. I beat it twice while renting and still bought the game afterwards. beat it 3 times and still I am playing it.

Half-life 2 didn't really have bosses. It was supposed to be "Realistic" if the combine had a super-race, and had occupied the Earth, there'd be no need for something like Nilihanth to fight...

Did that come out right?

I dunno though, no mp on hl2, maybe they improved it abit. farcry had much higher replay alue, but instincts scored a it less. we all know halo rules the box.

I know hl2 is a neat game, but to some it seems theres absolutly nothing else that can beat it, not the case. judge games by fun, hl2 just doesn't have alot of replay value after beating it initially. even then a 1 min load ever 5 mins is RWARRRRR

HL2 does have a bit of replay value, though most of the fun behind HL2 is the SDK, and the ability to make your own mod. And downloading other's mods. The Xbox will lack all the mods (Most likely) so, HL2 will still be one of the best PC games.

You can get some fun replay value from the cheat codes. One fun one is switching the amount of damage things do. Set the crossbow's damage to 99999 or something, and only use it and impulse 101 to get some ammo.

It's pretty balanced, and fun.

I had more to say initially...I can't remember half of it. Haha.

In RE4you fight umm, Ganados. Umm ganados with monsters on their heads, and ummm cultist like people...and...umm...knights in shining amour (theres a revolutionary idea if I ever saw one...) and some bosses and some other, not so creative enemies.

No bosses in HL2? Yes, because alot of people believe bosses are getting pretty weak in games these days. And I don't blame them, its true. Half of the bosses in games generally do suck ass. Would HL2 have been a better game with bosses? Probably not, you'd just have polyguns sitting around moaning how broken the bosses are and how they bring nothing new to the table.

I like RE4, its a fantastic game but overall, its really quite repetitive when it comes to enviroment, and as the game draws to a close it really begins to drag its feet. At least HL2 offers variety at every turn. Some bosses are awesome, some absolutely suck. RE4 also happened to have a next to terrible story, horrifying dialouge and totally crappy characters.

Great. Nobody is saying HL2 is going to make console owners throw their over-rated Halo boxes under the bed, but theres a chance it might show them that an FPS world, outside of Halo's generic corridors does exist.

'sides, HL2 does kinda have boss fights. When you fight the helicopter near the damn I thought "wow, boss battle, who'd have thunk it?"

I haven't played RE4 but anyone saying HL2 is repetetive is trolling and/or wrong - one of the best things about HL2 is the way it consistently varies the pace and the tone of the game so that it never gets boring - stealthy slow sections to fast-paced shotgun rushes to epic battles to lonely clifftops to horror-fied crawls through infested darkness to the bleak driving sections to fun interesting puzzly bits to gunship battles to tight urban firefights etc.

Yawn. Halo won some awards at G4, because yeah, awards make a game. G4 sucks total ass, and so do their award ceremonies. And quite frankly, I find it hilarious that they gave Halo best boss fight, which went to the scarab, which wasn't even a boss fight. Goes to show.

Half-Life had built-in multiplayer and TFC, both of which were immensely popular waaay before CS even existed. Half-Life 2 had HL2DM pretty soon after release (and it's great). So your point about multiplayer is, for lack of a less insulting word, stupid. Oh yeah - when CS first came out, it was incredibly original.

You apparently haven't noticed how those who are criticising RE4 have valid problems with it, and they've played it in enough detail to be able to pick out the problems in it. Yeah, like we haven't heard that before. The 360 and PS3 may be cool but they're not exactly revolutionary and they must advance in big leaps year by year. The PC is a constantly evolving 'liquid' platform and supports not only commercial games but shareware and downloadable content, not to mention that thing they call 'the internet'. What are you using right now? That's right, a PC. People will always use PCs, and as long as they do they're going to want to play games on their machines. Do you know that console games are MADE ON PCs? If there is no PC there is no console game? Maybe the fact that console MMORPGs RUN ON PCs? Oh and the 360 is being praised because it LINKS UP WITH A PC?

The only reason why consoles are so popular. Computers have all the game genres there are, they have expansion kits (Racing wheels, pedals, complete Surround Sound systems,...) and they can do so much more than playing games alone. What unique feature does the console have? It's cheap.

Like criticism of consoles has anything to do with understanding the story.

Consoles are cheaper than PCs because:

- you can't use them to make mods
- you can't download and watch videos/music/pron/whatever
- no internet browser
- no word processing
- no programming
- no modelling
- no art
- no sound editing
- no 10gb music library
- no upgrades for six years
- no chat
- no open platform to do whatever the **** you want

To be honest, comparing PCs and consoles is silly. Consoles are specifically designed to do nothing else but play games on - they're a specialised entertainment format, like a VCR machine, and they're cheap as a result. PCs are a completely open format on which you can do pretty much anything, often simultaneously. It just so happens that one of the things people do with them is playing games. It's not a question of whether consoles are better than PCs at all, because that's like saying a VCR is better than a film studio, or vice-versa. If you're going to compare the games that's fair enough, but in that case the price, or anything to do with the hardware, has nothing to do with it.

If you'd please stop being such a prat it would be very nice. Because all you're doing is coming here ranting and raving about the supremacy of consoles over PCs, while dismissing all criticism as unwarranted fanboy-hate.

Yesterday, My posts here were pretty hypocritical lol. I didnt want to start a flame war, because I freakin love HALO and Half Life 2. I just was too pumped up on red bull and got angry that you guys bashed console gamers and halo. Most of your points were valid, but others were either flames our utter nonsense. I took many of the posts before the wrong way. I realise that consoles are just used for games, and that pcs are more opened and whatnot..but I enjoy consoles more because they are easier to play with for me and of course the insane price of high end pcs when I could have almost that for half the price. Thank god that when the 360 launches, most of the reasons you made for pcs being better than consoles will be gone. Well I said what I wanted to, and by the way sulk dodds...you spelled SLUMBLESNORRUPS wrong you son of a....great person..haha..

I still think that the PC as a platform will never disappear though. For a start, like I said, people are always going to use PCs for the boring stuff. As long as they do so, they're occasionally going to want to make use of the enormous power in their grey box and play some games. The way consoles are going right now, they're practically turning into PCs anyway.

And this is the thing - consoles will never be able to take the place of the PC because they're starting from the wrong end. They're beginning as a platform solely for games and trying to build upwards and upwards, grafting on more and more features until it's like some insane frankenstein's monster. A PC will always be better for everything except pure games because it's built the other way round - starting with nothing, then building everything else logically on top of that.

And if consoles truly do become PCs, they'll become just as expensive. The price of a PC is going down all the time...you say the price of computers is ridiculous, but my machine cost 600 pounds (it wasn't quite cutting edge at the time, but it was almost there). That's only twice as much as a new console.

Plus, when you buy a console, you choose between Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. You're essentially missing out on two thirds of the gaming landscape (even if many titles are ported) whereas with a PC you get everything possible (and whatever you can make for yourself if you're suitably equipped). Guess what? Buying all three consoles costs as much as a top-end PC. That's not really an important point.

If anything the two formats will merge: on the PC, with standardisation, DirectX, Steam and other efforts to completely standardise game development, it's becoming easier and easier to just play. Meanwhile consoles are gaining more and more not-strictly-game features like music playing and internet access.
