Is anyone making HL1 on the HL2 engine?

I was about to, then asked Gabe to see if it was ok by him. He said, I quote "That one's already taken care of."

if that means Valve are doing it as an addon, a new release, or another mod team are doing it I don't know.. But it had better be good eh and not just a few high res textures here and there

It's an open comment. He could have meant it was done by them, it was being done by them, it was done by someone else, it was being done by someone else, its in negotiations, its just started being made. Or he could have read my email and thought hey thats a cool idea lets do that instead and scrap HL2 for another five years

If it's only for graphics sake...then it's no good for me.
With a game that almost 80%+ encountering an enemy, that would be wasted. SoLid gameplay are what makes HL is far better than Q3 or UT.

I think what he means by "That one's taken care of", is that we don't need to make a HL1 mod on HL2.. Its already been made..

No, I don't think so. It was probably a test project by Valve or a mod team.

I liekd it. And I thik that it would be great on the hL2 engine. it would also be good for Valve, because people would buy it if they want HL2, and want to know the story, but don't want to play it on the old engine.

Without getting too much into it, the leak can run HL1, the enviorments are the same, with hl2 models for scis and aliens. I saw this on a forum...
