Half-Life 1: Source

Hi,

I bought the game off the shelf, played it, enjoyed all of it, and now I want more, of course. So I figured that it might be fun to play Half-Life 1: Source (shame on me because I never played the original 5 years ago).

But how do I do that? When I start up Steam and right-clicks on "Half-Life 1: Source" I get the options to "Purchase" or to "Get News" (afair). If I choose "Purchase" the page tells me that I already have the Bronze, Silver and Gold packs...

So my question is: where is my option to play the game?

it's a common misconception. you have the bronze. you have to get silver. w/ silver, you get half life source and dod source when it comes out.

then you'll be able to play hl to the sourced power which btw, isnt that great (if you've already played the original that is)

Thanks. Well, but if can't get to actually buy the silver pack, then I seem to have a problem.

HL : Source sucks because they use the old, low-polygon models from the original HL rather than the high-def ones :(

Some modding teams have taken up the task of making HL: Source what it should've been. Those mods should be good to play.

Assuming it doesn't get cancelled, Black Mesa: Source will be an awesome mod! :D

Black Mesa: Source is well on its way. I would tell you more but then I would have to kill you.

Just play HL1 for now. Eventually I think HL:S will be free, to be honest. Either that or they have to let people who bought the retail game pay 10 or 20 and download it..

As for people recreating the whole HL1 with new textures and everything.... don't expect anything, anytime soon... Doom 3 came out in August and they still aren't done recreating Doom 1 and 2 on that new engine.. in fact their only about halfway if that.

right. Check http://www.blackmesasource.com/ Its going to be a full conversation of HL1. Not the crappy conversation Valve did.
Valve's "crappy conversion" was, in fact, a straight port to the Source engine done to test the Source engine's ability to import Half-Life 1 content, so there really wasn't much "converting" going on.

Personally, I like the retro feel, but I'm also looking forward to some of the conversion projects coming down the pike.
