Half-Life 2 and Doom III

Why is that here at halflife2 .net and at hlfallout, or any other HL2 fan sites, people all seem to compare the two games, Doom III and HL2.

Come on people!

They are two diffrent games, two diffrent stories, two diffrent developers, two diffrent stories, two diffrent selections types of weapons, two diffrent parts that were more focused on, two diffrent level designs, two diffrent game requirements, two diffrent type of fans, two diffrent type of physics engines, etc.

Basically it is stupid to copare them, they are two diffrent games!

Stupid to compare, cause Doom 3 is w*nk.

Only thing it brings to the game is its lighting technology, and graphical visuals .... woopie f*cking doo. No one points out the fact that the gameplay is utterly crap. (come on, everywhere theres a monster you have to frag over again and again and again ... theres no stop inbetween)

Yes we may compare them but people have a fair point...they are both FPS, so isnt that enough basis, being the same genre to compare them. Of ****ing course they have differences, if they didnt they would be the same game...we compare farcry, doom 3, Halo 2 with HL2, why not, they are different but FPS all the same. Stop getting over complicated and stick with the basic fact, they are the same type of game.

I'm getting tired of hearing this tired "apples and oranges" cliche that people love to post. You certainly CAN compare these two games; not by focusing on details that are specific to style, but by evaluating the general gaming experience. For example, Doom 3 and Half-Life 2's graphics were both amazing in their own way, but Doom 3 was nowhere near as fun for me as Half-Life 2 is (notice I said "was"). I didn't even try Doom 3's multiplayer, it looked like a complete waste of time.

For the above reasons, I declare HL2 the better game.

See? That wasn't so hard.

When two great things come along, some people enjoy both of them, others argue that theirs is better. However, if I was handed a snickers and a milky way, I'd eat both of them, and would enjoy milky way's caramel and I'd enjoy snicker's nuts... instead of comparing the two.

Most people dont "compare" that way. Most people's comparisons are:

"OMG WTF HL2 PWNS DOOM 3 SO BAD U GOT GOOD PHYSICS ANG D GRAV GUN?!?! LOL!"

or

"DUDE U NOOB, LOL!? DOOM 3 HAS REALLY GOOD LIGHTING AND HL2's LOOKS REAL BAD!!!!!!"

It gets old after awhile.
