Hi, I just reformatted my computer, and now i can't play half life 2 because they're saying i've already registered my cd key. What do i have to do to be able to play again?! I'm not paying them any money because i just paid $55 for the game! anyone have any suggestions, or know how to crack the steam activation? Plz e-mail me at [email protected] thankx

Your CD key of HL2 is tied to your steam account.
All you need to do is log into steam with your user/pass and you should be able to play the game.

actully, it just went straight to decrypting when that happend to me. since I had to reformat 4 days ago.

I've tried, but since i reformatted my computer and just installed half life 2 it wants a cd key before i just log in and play the game.

That shouldn't be right.

You should just log in to your account, launch the game and if it asks you what the CD-key is input it and it should work fine.

Basically Steam will check the CD-key and if its the same one that should be attached to that account then it should work.

You know, to me, it sounds like you're looking to crack the Steam system.

Actually, make sure you're logging into your old account. Make sure this is the account you were using BEFORE the reformat.

Click on Play Game > Click on the Browse Games... button > Click on the Register a game I already own... button > Enter the CD-key.

That should work.

ok, i think it's working now, it's starting to decrypt counter-strike. Thanks for the help guys

It shouldn't ask for the CD key out of steam I dont think, even for retail. Try downloading steam seperately from www.steampowered.com

It would in certain cases switch.
