Well, this thread was inspired by the gamespot thread...

What do you'll think of Half-Life Radio and HL2 World, in respects to our community?

Discuss. Keep it clean, no ad hominem attacks (ie saying that feedbag's mom is ugly {example}, you must talk about the site or the site leaders in respect to thiers or our site)

They hate us? .. I suggest we proceed with the genocide plan

j/k :)

Honestly I think that everyone is simply jealous that we are the biggest HL2 community. Nothing they say is gona change that.

Yeah we have such a warm/nice community. /me hugs all

well, they think we are quite childish, from what i read.

most, not all, of those posts saying so ( unfortuneately here in some instances)
had no arguement, just an insult.

and the times they cited events, were pretty vague.

I think they got the idea that HL2.nets info is fake is from the few times fake emails pop up.
when they get deleted for being fake, they think we are covering tracks, rather than stopping false information from spreading further.

which sucks.

I think, personally, thik HL2 radio is a joke. They lie, spread rumors, etc. And it defintely not helping community awareness :( I've enever checked out HL2 world.... maybe I should sometime.

I have to wonder where this dislike of halflife2.net really comes from... it's not prevalent through their entire community is it? Jealousy doesn't make much sense... if you join their forum, are you stuck there and can't register anywhere else even if it is better or what?

I'm in a state of great dislike for HLRadio. I posted a civil, informative post about their accusations of us being fake, and clarifying that Gamespot confirmed the SDK is on its way. As a result, they banned my IP, deleted my post, and changed the wording of their article. They also faked "talking to VALVe today," which is a big no-no, especially when they accuse this site of faking interviews/e-mails.

I dont know why communitys battle, or care what each other thinks of the other. People take the internet way to seriously.

The Half Life 2 community is pacient, thats about it :)

I am not familiar with either of the two.

They can bring the hate, but we will always bring the love...*gobble* *gobble*

I don't really think too much about them. I'll go along my way and they can go along thiers. I don't approve of the stolen material at HL2World and I'm not impressed with HLRadio. I'm not sure where the bitterness is coming from, but I think it's anxiety and frustration. We as fans have had a bumpy ride and it's starting to get to people. Lack of concrete information and lots of rumors is bad for any group of people. I think some people need to remember what it's all about. This site is the one I trust most for news. It's a really good community, and I'm glad to have it, especially during times like this rift in DoD. I remember when someone at the DoD forums took a little jab at halflife2.net forum users. And now, you guys should see what we've degraded to over there. Self-proclaimed 'pros' who think they have more credibility or right to express beliefs because they have been around since beta version so-and-so. All over a stupid bolt-action rifle. I can see it taking the same sickening turn as CS. It really makes me feel better to see that halflife2.net has stayed on its feet despite going mainstream, and we're not taking the same fall that DoD is and CS has. I'm sure when HL2 finally comes this will be the biggest community for HL, but let's not let this mess with HL2World and HLRadio drag both (or all three?) down.

I don't think highly of HL2 World or Half-Life radio at all. They wither make stuff up to garner traffic, and deface our site, or they post information (lot's of it) about the beta (which is just plain insulting to Valve really), which are pretty immature and irresponsible things to do. I for one cannot understand why people would hate our community in the first place. What is it exactly? Is it because we don't allow discussion of the beta, or the fact that we lock threads when they get out of hand (those are two things I've heard complained about)? Is it jealousy over our member base, and the fact that this site is basically the number one site for half-life 2 news? I'm perplexed over the whole situation. I say, just let them be, we will continue providing people with credible information, and they can continue to do that which they seem to do best, it makes no difference.

everyone wants a piece of you when you are at the top.
Hl2.net is a strong community with passionate gamers.
long live hl2.net ;)
I have nothing against any other site, its just juevenile to attack other sites (and we usually are the ones who are defending, not attacking)
ah well
:D

Why do you guys even care about those sites? They can think whatever they want. The point is, Hl2.net proved a long time ago, that it can be trusted to. Websites like Gamespot and Shacknews believe us and trust us (even if they need to double check). Who cares about bunch of jealous and pissed off people?

If HL2.net is the group of intellectuals at the party that is the HL2 community, then HLRadio is the group of little kids staring goggle-eyed at one of their number, who is prancing about with drinking straws in his ears and nostrils.

ok, here is why I cannot stand the people at hl radio

HL2.net is a crock of shit, that's what. They always post wrong stuff, mostly made up. And they get pissed at other people when they get made out to be morons. They fail at the game of life.

One of their intelligent forum members piling up the evidence against our site

Haha

I have yet to see them show one shred of evidence that we've ever posted anything fake..

It's a shame really. They're getting all worked up over this. Kind of makes you wonder whats really getting at them.

I posted over there and asked them, the genius I quoted above was the only one to give a reply :/

i wonder what's up with those other sites... as far back as... july? august? i decided the best place for news and opinions was hl2.net ... and my good feeling about this site was only reaffirmed after reading that hlradio ... what was it? an interview?... something... where the guys went to valve and tinkered around and asked questions but, didn't really ask very good or relavent questions and left me wanting real info. (was that hlradio? i'm pretty sure it was... anyways, i thought it was sad.)

okay i'm not seeing an edit key,.... but i wanted to add that i checked out the hlradio site... man ... those people are i dunno... assholes to put it mildly... i saw an entire thread go offtopic into a flame war within like... 2 or 3 posts or so. but oh well, to each his own.

I am DISGUSTED when other fan sites decide to play hardball either for popularity or some massive ego trip. As a community with a single purpose (the worship of HL2 so to speak), shouldn't we be working together rather than tearing each other apart? Ok, so some people here have pissed off other people there and vice versa. Does that mean the ENTIRE HL2.net or HLRadio or HL2World community is pile of humbug?...no.
Anecdote: I'm in the Marching Band and we get some pretty tough away team crowds (boos from their faculty??) But what do we do? Take it in stride and know that we are already better in maturity.
I've heard the radio sometimes when they interview mods, that's about it. Some of them are pretty ok (some are well....yeah...dur!) I don't like HL2World being so receptive with the beta, but that's their own thing and Valve has already sorted with them on screenshots.

People please, spread the love, not the hate. :imu:

PS: Read more HLRadio posts: insensitive, immature, and on the whole without merit.

Gabe posts here.
We get reliable info.
We dont need to talk about the beta to boost traffic.
We are the largest hl2 community.
The mods close smacktards threads.
These forums are just so much more proffesional than the others, half life radios even got a Flame forum! how sad is that.

as such the rest of the sites feel like little wannabees.

Well I think this sums it quite nicely:

The people we ban here have to go somewhere don't they!

Jealously does strange things to people... It's a shame, really. The Half-Life/2 Community must be one of the biggest, but it's all composed of groups of haters and warring sites.

Precisely. We shouldn't hate each other :)

We should all hold hands and sing happy happy songs.

Really though there's not much point in slagging off other sites/community's as it's not like you pay to come to these forums, you come to them if you like to post here.

I'll hold hands for love and peace. . . but they are a little moist from the shower : )

so when do we start the D O S attack? : D

jking

From my own point of view I could type up a book on the relationship between Halflif2.net and HalfLifeSource/Radio. A tale of arguments, plain stupidity, wrongdoings, twofacedness and humiliation ( both sides have been to blame at one point or another ).

Alas as much as I'm tempted to do so sometimes, it wouldn't do anyone much good. Maybe when/if I leave the HL2 scene ( cause I swear, if TFC2 is the only MP aspect I'm off to Tribes3.. ) I'll wash my hands of everything and release a public tidal wave of past happenings, logs, screenshots and emails just to vent pent up personal frustration at the ineptness of some people.

Until such a time, I'm keeping schtum. :)

Plus offtopic is always amusing even if there is no HL2 news. We have some real debates and discussions on this site about things going on in the world and in gaming that I just don't see elsewhere. They don't necessarily get anywhere (it will be a few years yet before I convince Ghost Val to hoist up the red flag over Texas I think), but they are always entertaining.

I have to commend Andy Hodges on his visit to these forums trying to clear stuff up. Whether it was a misunderstanding or not doesn't really matter to me. It appears he himself didn't write the article that started all this.

Either way, I have respect for HLRadio coming here and explaining what went down. Not everything is quite so clear (actually, the only thing clear to me now is that HLRadio has edited that post a total of about 10 times, and by one of any of their 49 staff members), but I sure don't feel any animosity towards HLRadio now that I've been unbanned :)

Doubt it. Each website has their own quality.

If this thread progresses into hlradio bashing I'll close it. Simple as.

I'd really like to bash Farve for throwing that pass into deep coverage in OT against the Falcons. (And now in an effort to relate it to HL2) He blew it more than Valve blew the release date.
