If you remember, there was no offical Half Life 1 Demo, but there was Half Life 1 Day One. Half-Life: Day One was called an OEM version because it was designed to be bundled with things like video cards, sound cards, and game controllers sold by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It encompassed about five levels in all. It included the game's full tutorial as well as the full cinematic intro. Multiplayer support and cheat codes were not implemented in this build.

That would be nice for those Radeon9800XT buyers (and all who get the leaked day one version :))

But this is just wishful thinking during a boring and cold sunday somewere in good ol' Germany and a topic that will get closed soon I guess.... :dork: :x

*sigh*
such a thing would be nice.

If I had known what I know now, I would have "Sam Fisher"ed my way into E3, copied the HL2 E3 presentation (by the looks of it, I don't think it was just a movie...although I could be wrong) and thrown it on to BitTorrent within the hour.

It wouldn't work with their ultra-secret strategy. HL1 development was very open, with lots of press having access to early builds to preview and such...hl2 is so secret that a Day One scenario would never work.

The Mullinator gets dressed in his Black ops outfit and prepares to sneak into Valve HQ.
It will be difficult, security will be tight, and I better watch out for the crowbar armed security guards.

Yeah man we should go down there in our ninja pyjamas like mullinator said, but those developers, they'll be working all hours of the night!
we'll do battle matrix hallway scene style "there is no spoon mutha f*cka!!" *ratatata*

too hell with stealth just walk into valve HQ with a serious sam style minigun, dressed from head too toe in titanium reinforced 3 inch think kevlar armor and just pray to god they don't have a real life HEV.

Your screwed if they have a gravity gun though.

shit i didn't think of that, I'll have to get my evil scientists to come up with a anti graviton shield of some sort or i could just wear really heavy boots.

Or even better the merc armor out of U2 (you know the useless fat bastards that make the screen shake).

I dunno, if you were covered in 3 inch thick kevlar armor and wielding a ginormous minigun.. I dun think the gravity gun would hack it.. I bet it struggled to lift that barrel!

hmmm... half life: uplink was an official halflife demo wasn't it?
that's what made me decide to get HL.

yah nothing playable will be released until the final games is on shelves and steam

This will not happen and I'll tell you why:

When hl1 was released, or rather, when Half-life: Day One was released, file-sharing was NOTHING like what it is today. If they were to release HL2: Day one. It would pretty much be in the hands of EVERYONE on the net, regardless of wether they bought the card with which it came bundled.

People, really, get it through your heads. It is VERY unlikely that you are going to play ANYTHING hl2 before it is actually released.
