Sorry, but it sound nothing like Half-Life.

Hi, firstly: thanks for listening.

Secondly: Are You really sure? I mean I was listening to this track for hours while playing Half-Life 2: Episode Two, to prove if it would really fit to the game atmosphere. Try it too, maybe then You will change Your mind?!

Thank You anyway,

I really like this, I think it would fit very well in the right scenarios within the Half-Life world.

@Shift: Thank You very much! Yeah the right situation could be f.e. driving by night and fighting or for flashbacks.

I really liked the beginning right off the bat. At first I didn't like the middle, but after a few seconds it grew on me.

I really wish the half-life series had a theme that was really memorable, like the theme for the Spiderman movies, or the Harry Potter movies, that could be played during trailers and the openings of the games. A theme that everyone would recognize right away as half-life.

@the cow says moo: thank You! I will make for more tracks for Half-Life 2: Episode 3, so will see, if there would be a theme You would say "Oh that's one is what I meant" - keep up-to-date.

@G(ordon)-man: this is unofficial soundtrack, I normally compose music for movies and games, which are in development or ready but not released yet (f.e. I compose two soundtracks for Splinter Cell: Conviction, Need For Speed: Undercover before it came out, Silent Hill: Homecoming and, and, and). Do You like it?

Thank You for comments, hope more people will give a feedback,

I smell bull shit

and damn does it smell funky.

edit: oh, a unofficial soundtrack. Sorry. BUT I bet the real one will be better...

@ZachAttack:

who knows... I don't want to compare my music with the music from Kelly Bailey. I just make my own thing and wanted to share it with You - just to make the time of waiting for the third episode a little bit shorter.

Be open-minded for new things... I mean I give You an alternative.

@G(ordon)-man: good, that You can hear it out. thanks.

It's always a big deal to share something like this with a community of fans of each game (but I do it - and always in the biggest community: to read critics - to get better and praise - to know that I'm doing the right thing)

Many fans are fixed on the original music, so it's why I need to be carefully - finally I don't want to share crap with the people. I play weeks every single game (released games) I'm composing for - to find out, if it could fit to the upcoming one or not, read backgounds and, and, and. If I can say to myself "oh man, ok, now You've got it" then I release and share my soundtracks.

So it's always the decision of You - hate it or love it ;). I'm thankful for every kind of feedback, as You can see.

I can see you really tried to capture Half-Life with it. And although it's a good track it's not quite Half-Life for me. The music doesn't seem to have much action or urgency in it, like the guitar tracks in HL2,EP1,EP2 this sounds to mellow for me.

@PimpinPenguin: thanks. You should really try to listen to this track while playing HL2. It sounds mellow and agro at the same time, that's right. And as I said, there will be 4 more tracks, if You all would like to listen more from me. Maybe one of them will convince You?! I keep You up-to-date.

PS: if You have an account by Youtube subscribe me please, it would be a really big support for me.

Well, the intro sounded a bit like Halo, and the rest is sounding like something from GOW or something, but I just started listening. I'll provide you with more feedback when I finish. :D

EDIT: I could see this going into part of Ep: 3 with the snow. You should contact Valve with this. You might get a job. 'Tis good. :)

@PimpinPenguin: check Your pm.

@Van_Halen: wow, these are really nice words, thanks a lot. The Intro btw is a heart beat with a bass and I thought to leave it as the basic sfx for every other track, which Ill compose in the next days for HL2: E3.

Oh yes, for those, who wanted to listen to guitar track - here is my second track from the soundtrack:

Half-Life 2: Episode Three (NxSG Credit Theme)

I know it sounds too happy, but I thought this one as the music for credits after the "happy end" (I hope).

Ok im the only musician on this forum so just trust on this one!!!
NxSG I think it captured whole half life atmosphere really really good...personaly I think its really good track.

Sounds sorta Episode 1-ish with the track What Kind of Hospital Is This?. The guitars and stuff.

Nice job, sounds really good. Keep it up.

@Apiary: thanks a lot. So I think You listened to the msuic while playing the game, don't You ;)!

@Apiary & Van_Halen: what kind of music are You making? Any links or something - just my interest.

@TollBooth Willie: oh ok, have to check this out. Thank You for Your feedback and motivation.

I finished the third track right now - and if this one won't convince everybody, then I'm doing something wrong ;).

Update: the third track

Half-Life 2: Episode Three (Hiding The Fear)

Awesome that second track was perfect for me and was exactly what i wanted. That really did sound like a Half-Life track you captured the sound style perfectly.

@Reflex: Thank You for Your feedback! About the "quotes": I don't like it, the message gets longer than should be and it's kind of my recognition value, because everybody uses quotes... anyway I like it in this way.

@PimpinPenguin: Nice... finally. I'm happy about it. thanks.

Hey, nice music) It is not similar to Bailey's music, but... nice one)

@TollBooth Willie: thanks.

@eger_666: thank You - it's really good, that's not similar to Mr. Bailey's music, don't want to be a copy of someone.

Update - the fourth track:

Half-Life 2: Episode Three (Finally A Free Man)

You know, what I wanted to say with this track, don't You ;)?!

Thank You all for Your comments, ratings and views.

Great work! I really like it. You did capture something that is Half-Life...
The beginning of the first one (and the last?) just makes me think of the Combine. Some kind of war-industrial sound, and marching forces... Think you get what I mean.

Thank you for sharing, keep it up!

The songs are indeed very good, but you should try introducing each track with something other than the heart beat, unless

A. That's your signature on the track, as in, "I made this!"
B. It's just another filler added to the same track
C. You're only going to keep one, and just couldn't resist leaving that part out of any.

But, like I said, they are very good. Good work. :)

Btw, I have a band that I play drums for, write lyrics, and write guitar intros, riffs, and endings for. I, unfortunately, don't have a very good recorder, and I'm rather unwilling to show another video on this forum because someone always thinks that me playing a single song means that this song is all that I can play... Dummies. :p

@Combined: thank You very much! I know what You mean and I think the track (I didn't put online), would perfectly fit to Your words.

@Van_Halen: Thank You too.

You are right with A, B and C... Actually I don't like to use the same (instruments, sfx or anything else) in more than one track, but this soundtrack was an exception. I wanted to keep the atmosphere while composing different kinds of music. There are two elements "HeartBeat" & "Bass", which are just connecting the instrumentals. And it was a little bit tricky to make it - I was really enjoying this work.

To Your work - You could send me a link via pm to this one track (I'm just interested), if You want of course.

You are doing many things - so big respect. I wish You and Your band all the best! And don't listen to anyone...

@nicku72:

wow it would be cool, but I think it's impossible. Nobody from BBC did ask me for that and I don't think that they would break the copyrights.

Honestly I didnt like the keyboard effects from 25-37secs...ish.

However, when the beat kicked in I couldnt help but like it. In the halflife universe? Maybe for a trailer or compilation, doubt a Requiem For A Dream song would make it into the game, licensing issues would be a pretty big obstacle for Valve.

Cant help but feel a Linkin Park essence.

HOWEVER, I love the Requiem For A Dream track, so this was a cool spin on it, especially if you created the track from scratch yourself.

Loved the piano at the end.

Good job.

[Edit] Im pretty sure I listened to the wrong song, haha, just noticed your Episode 3 song below, listening now. Assuming its actually THIS song http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yHLh4dEewt8&feature=channel_page

Sounds like Boards of Canada, big thumbs up.

Good intro, felt more like Halflife after about 1minute in.

But again, feels like something you could put in a compilation or trailer personally, cant see myself running around to it.

@ĐynastҰ:

I hope I've got, what You meant: You listened to my remix of "Requiem For A Dream" first?! Didn't You?

Anyway good that You find the right tracks (there are 4 in number on YouTube and one more for subscriber).

Thank You for a feedback and Your thumbs up.

Everybody imagines different things while listening to these tracks. Interesting to read it.

I like them, but I'll have to see them in the context of a game to know how well they fit.

NxSG though i understand you put a lot of effort i just dont see this tune matching well with a Half Life game. I could see this song like in a Wii game but not Half Life. Sorry not trying to diss you just being honest. Half Life 2 had the best soundtrack. Try to make something in that field
