Following in the footsteps of Half-Life 2 and Portal, NVIDIA has announced 2006's Half-Life 2: Episode One will soon arrive on their Android-based SHIELD tablet platform as part of, wait for it, the "Green Box".
While both Half-Life 2 and Portal previously appeared on the original SHIELD, essentially a controller with a computer and a screen attached, Half-Life 2: Episode One will be available exclusively for the more powerful and more expensive SHIELD Tablet on the upcoming 5.0 Lollipop operating system update set to release for SHIELD on November 18th 2014. Alongside Episode One, the "Green Box" will also include Half-Life 2 and Portal and will be bundled in with the 32GB/LTE version of the SHIELD tablet, meaning it's a pretty good opportunity to get your hands on these games for free if a SHIELD device has piqued your interest.
This officially marks the first time Half-Life 2: Episode One has been available on an Android-based mobile platform, but that sadly doesn't mean it will work on your phone given the required extra horsepower provided by NVIDIA's Tegra K1 graphics chip (not to mention the SHIELD's exclusivity deal). More information about the Green Box bundle, the SHIELD tablet, and the upcoming 5.0 Lollipop Android update are available over on NVIDIA's official announcement post should this interest you.
