Half Life 2 is on top 5 on the list of top 200 games of all time

Full Top 200 list here.

I'm going to ask the question: What's so special about The Legend of Zelda?

Everquest is #44. A full 34 places above Command and Conquer. 44 places above Baldur's Gate 2.
System Shock 2 = #105. 105 for SS2, for god's sake.
And Civilization 1 and 4 are on the list, while Civilization 2 isn't.

I know these things are all subjective twaddle anyway, but this is common logic here.

14. Call of Duty Modern Warfare
This list is written by a confirmed troll.

174. Gunstar Heroes
No reaction image could ever accurately represent my anger. I want this man dead. I want him dead and I want him to die in a horrible way, and I want him to know what he's done to deserve it. The contract is open. You write me and tell me how you'll do it and we'll set a price. I want him dead. I want him dead tonight.

I'm glad to see Bully on there, but where's all the adventure games?

27. BioShock (360/PC, 2007)
28. ...
29. Half-Life (PC, 1998)

WHAT

How is Doom better than Metroid :( And why is World of Warcraft even apart of this.

Love the avatar there Mr. Djees; I need to find a HD version of the three series.

So basically the guy who wrote the list just thought lets just pick classic nintendo games then? >_>

And yeah what's so special about LoZ?

Was about to post this. This is a terrible list.
Let me count the ways...

11. World of Warcraft (PC, 2004)
14. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3/360/PC, 2007)
18. Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, 2005)
27. BioShock (360/PC, 2007)
30. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivious(someone misspelled the title here, and the misspell leads to to several conclusions none of which I will go to here) (360/PC, 2006)
36. Civilization (PC, 1991) [Civilization 1 was not very good. It was influential, yes, but not good.)
43. Final Fantasy X (PS2, 2001)
56. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3, 2009)[Not even a game!]
65. Fallout 3 (PS3/360/PC, 2008)
73. Rock Band 2 (PS3/360, 2008)
79. Kingdom Hearts (PS2, 2002)
90. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, 2006)
98. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS3/360, 2009)[I had no idea it was so new.]
112. Final Fantasy XII (PS2, 2006)
130. Kingdom Hearts II (PS2, 2006)
134. Borderlands (PS3/360/PC, 2009)
143. Assassin’s Creed (PS3/360, 2007)[As much as I loved it, no. The second would probably fit better.]
162. Far Cry (PC, 2004)
181. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3/360/PC, 2009)
189. Kid Icarus (NES, 1986)[Have they even played it? It's frustrating as all hell. But, that's NES games for you.]
197. NHL 09 (PS3/360, 2008)

I barely skimmed it. I would have included the LoZ games(as I didn't think they were very special, probably because I never picked up those nifty nostalgia goggles) but I know they DO get quite a bit of acclaim. TP I know had some grumblings about it.

Woah Samon wont be happy BG&E is 200 :O

Also is it really right to have more than one game per franchise on this list? I thought it very strange to see splinter cell PT and CT. (besides SCPT was the worst of the 4)

That is a bloody horrible list and focuses on way too many "classic games" just cos they're old. Some of the choices aren't bad but they're ordering on the list is definitely suspect.

Just from the first ten or so I can tell the list isn't reliable. Looks... Patronizing.

Uncharted 2 deserves to be on that list :foldarms:

But yes, System Shock 2 not being in the top ten is stupid. As is Half-life 2 being above Half-life.

Also, Assassin's Creed is on the list. If that game deserves to be on the list, I'm ten feet tall.

I do not agree with this list, objective proof that it is wrong.

[edit] This list is a blatant slap in the face to all that is good and reasonable in this world. I feel like throwing up.

Top x lists are call enough to disregard any publication, but the real insight into the game-informer mentality is that they're still calling Squaresoft's 1994 Final Fantasy game 'Final Fantasy III', as if the last fifteen years (and two correctly localised versions) haven't happened.

The list has nothing to do with the actual quality of the games. It's about whether you were there 'before this gaming thing was cool'. Of those NES titles, Only Super Mario Bros 3. deserves to be where it is. Gaming owes a lot to Super Mario Bros. 1, but it doesn't owe it a complete blind eye for its fridge-humming banality.

Lists are still stupid. Oh noes.

Why on earth is Halo 2 on this list?

Also, Oblivion ranking higher than Morrowind is dissapointing.

And the fact that Modern Warfare 2 is on this list is a CRIME. The game was just barely released, in NO WAY should it make this list now, or even at all.

Eh, there's no way a top 200 list is going to be any good. Who knows what they based this on. Probably popularity.

God. ****ing. Damnit.

Stop posting this shit. There is nothing more worthless than a "top ##" list in anything. Everybody and their father's cock have a different "top ##" list for everything in the world and anyone who thinks shit like these ****ing lists actually mean anything needs to come up with a "top five ways to die" list and make the number one entry a reality.

True enough, but dont you think a game such as MW2, whose predecessor made the large impact it did due to its multiplayer, be given at least a few months just to ensure its longevity?

Lol. I like this concept.

No. I dont think MW2 should be on any list even if it had longevity. The game is trash, and yet another reason why these lists are absolutely worthless.

Seeing as how I only play single player games except Left 4 Dead, it's already pretty high on my GoTY for the campaign which I thought was brilliant. Batman: Arkham Asylum is still the Game Of The Year for me though.

EDIT: Just realised this is "all time" list, I'll shut up now.

Indeed ... but they provide a good arguing point.

When was the last time some publication and/or website did a Reader's Top 100 of All Time? It would be interesting to see what the popular vote showed as.
