Heh after all the arguments, all the flaming etc., did you notice how people reacted to hl2 the same as h2?

Some were dissapointed but the majority enjoys the game so much (me). This is the exact same thing that happened with h2. Just proves my point of how there's no better between the 2 they are just the best two of the best FPS's ever made.

Nice job vault, nice job bungie.

Not that I want to put a hole in your otherwise flawless post, how does that make them any way the same?

I'm sure that some people were disappointed with GTA:San Andreas, but the majority of the players enjoyed the game. That does not mean that Half Life 2 = Halo 2 = GTA:San Andreas.

And also, it's Valve, not Vault.

all three are great games, but i think if i had a better system i would have much more fun playing hl2. my computer is still fast, it just lacks a graphic card, and it pisses me off.

halo2 and gta sa have some of the funnest multiplayer modes ever of any console game. i would say halo 2 and gta sa are the two best games for this generation of gaming consoles, and half life2 should dominate for a long time.

LMAO yea im a noob I mean "vault"

I never mentioned SA because h2 and hl2 had a bigger expectancy.
Im basically saying that in the "first impressions" view, they are alike, they had they're downs but alot of ups.

There's certainly a difference in my mind... it's tiring seeing so many people wanting to say "oh they're all such great games just enjoy them all we the gamers win in the end blah blah blah" shut up! I don't win if the game blows...

Well, according to gamerankings.com, i'd say you're wrong!

http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/simpleratings.asp?rankings=y

As you can see the statistics clearly show Half-Life 2 is the greater game. Whilst Halo 2 sits at a lowly, disappointing, viagra needing 7th. Whilst Half-Life 2 , sits at number 2!!

So in conclusion i have exhibited bias in my post.

Halo 2 is a generically forced piss. notice when u go into corridors every turn u take almost looks exactly the same. you don't have that in Half-Life 2. 1 of the things that got boring the quickest in Halo 1 was the relentless repeating of the same bad guys and the same scenery. especially in co-op mode. holy shit is that boring and repetitive!

Oh come on, you know HL2's ranking will fall when all reviews are posted. So far, Halo 2 has more reviews posted on it than HL2 has.

Although I'm surprised how amazed the critics were, HL2 has so many 10/10s...almost at par with the halo 2 ones. Let's see if this continous or not.

I, for one, didn't mind/notice the repetition in Halo till people started mentioning it :p No kidding. I thought it was kind of generic, but still fun.

Wait a second...half-life 2's 10 out of 10 rankings are almost up there with Halo 2's? Thats incredible...

Spoken like a man whose only played on normal, and below, difficulty settings ;)

In terms of combat, Halo 2 shits all over HL2 (notice this isn't me saying that it's better than HL2 ......... which is so superior in many areas. But challenging and strategic combat isn't one of them)

I won't say Halo 2's combat shits all over hl2, frankly it has lost that "wow" effect which halo 1 had. Similarly, HL2 definately has HL style combat, and the "wow" is even furhur less here.

That doesn't mean it's bad, it's still pretty great, but not the same as when they were an original IP.

The only extremely enjoyable game for me this year was chronicles of riddick, now that truly did combine some "wow" momments in combat.

actually, when i was in combat situations and things got crazy, i did think of the Halo games. the 1 gun even blasts that plasma-bullet style. HL2 is just so immersing tho with the story. i definitely said wow more with HL2 than any other game ive ever played, by far.

how can you say the combat in HL2 is less than HL1 tho? youre either crazy or ... crazy!

In the beach fight scene right before you enter nova prospekt, did anyone else feel like they were playing Halo? The Combine weapons in that area felt very halo-ish, the scene looked right out of Halo....I forget the scene it was, toward the beginning. I wish I had paid more attention to it when I played it.
Anyway, I'm being confusing, but I didn't enjoy that part, and all of nova prospekt was my least favorite area of the game.

HL2 has both a good story and multiplayer, along with mods, Halo 2 just has a good multiplayer.

They are in no way close to each other.

I dunno, I've always found Halo's combate similar to DOOM except with cutseens in between each level. But, Halo/H2 the only game which I find the single player extremely boring EXCEPT when playing with another person in which it's too fun for words.

-People don't use the manipulator enough.

Similar to Doom ? Doom has a bit of run-and-shoot, but it has alot of lurking in dark corners. Halo is just 'there', no hiding.

There's more hiding in Halo/Halo 2 than any other single player shooter i've ever played (at least on Legendary) In comparison HL2 is almost 'Serious Sam'.

The only reason why i find Halo's (1&2) combat more challenging then Half-Life 2 is because the Elite's have shields. Thats about it. On the harder difficulties they'll camp for abit and wait for their shields to come back online after you've taken them down. Which makes the firefights alot more tactical then Half-Life 2's.

But I found Half-Life 2 offered so much more variety then Halo 2. In Halo 2 it was just the same firefights over and over again, just in different area's. they were always fun but none-the-less, always the same.

When it came to tactical moments in Half-Life 2 there weren't that many in comparison to Halo 2. And they were also alot different, and alot faster.

The first time i played through the Highway 17 chapter i got into a fire fight with an Overwatch patrol outside a barn and some houses. Three guys run at me, the closest one with a shotgun. So i shot him twice and he doesnt drop so i retreat around the other side of the barn, and by the time i'm there, the two guys whom i thought were following him had met me on the other side of the barn.

That same firefight (later after i killed those 3 ) i was fighting another combine whilst inside a house, he was shooting inside and i was firing back when two guys come from behind me and nail me good...bastards.

I enjoy both games alot, but they're totally different styles of shooting. One relies on thinking more then the other, and the other relies on movement more then the other.

And what is all this "hiding" business?

Hey, you give Vault the credit they deserve, damnit! :p
