Half life 2 mod idea for a team that wants it.

Im not saying you will think its good, im not saying you will think its bad, but i myself think its a winner if executed properly. Im looking for a team that has put out half life mods before to hear my idea- cause once i release it on a forum anyone could steal the idea. Its pretty unique to anything ive seen in a mod yet so why not listen.

OK this is my idea- ITS MY IDEA- please read the whole thing if you plan on responding to it.


Title not yet known:

Premise: taking restrictive environments with set themes per level and set weapons per level, and opening them up through destructable structures- what does this mean??

ever play a game like kung fu chaos? ever play dead or alive 3?

now take the ability to move from one section of the environment to another through destruction as found in doa 3, and combine it with the frenzied themed action of a game like kung fu chaos-

the ideas can follow as such:

you start out in a dojo with 8 other ninjas. Swords line the walls and the match starts. Everyone rushes to a different section of the squared level and takes sword- players fight it out and one is knocked through the wall into a courtyard down below- that player can no longer reach the top area and has access to newer and better weapons where he is- all the other players jump down- the trend then continues until all are dead or until the last environment is reached.

another idea: ( more related to hl weapons)

players start off in an armory: each player can carry two weapons only- the walls are lined with aton of weaponry and gadgets- a mad rush starts when the match begins and an alarm sounds- the armory fills with gas (because of the theft of weapons-thus making it more important to be the first that grabs one) to force the players out of the armory and onto a moving lift to reach the surface of a military base- the lift rises with several destructable crates and cover on the moving platform- the players fight it out and reach the surface- they now have access to a wonderful fort tpo kill each other in- yet unable to reach the armory they started in so that the matches stay focused on the current environment and thus make for ever changing tactics.


Physics play a huge role in the way the destruction plays out to dwindle cover in the current environment and to open up newer areas.

As cover lessens players start to search for access into the new section of a level- be it destroying a wall, pulling a lever, or using a platform fit for 4 ( and not the 8 you start out with thus making for the forced killing before the players can enter the next area.

why can't I

why can't I just go to the futuristic level, take the ultra-bazooka, and fire in on the medival and less sophistocated levels and kill everyone? Seems like each match would be a rush to whichever level has the ultimate weapon, and then camp it.
 
actually thats why i said each level has a fixed set of weapons- the weapons are releated to the theme of each level and cant be transported between the levels. The game would be more based around the one time action found in each match- however i have yet to develop any ideas as to how experiance gained by players reward them.
 
you miseed what he said: he said "and then camp it" which would still work, even if that weapon couldn't be transferred to other maps. the guy would just sit there and kill anything that came near his/her map.

still, it sounds like an interesting idea, and could be good if executed properly.
 
hmm- well im thinking maybe there can be options players have- say you reach the surface of the military base and one guy gets the rocket launcher first or something- the rest of the players could decide to access the bomb shelter and from there launch a missle that decimates the surface of life ;)
 
maybe set it up so that new areas are opened up after a certain amount of time passes, so say after 3 minutes or something power could come on to operate the lifts or allow a switch to b hit to open a door etc. etc. Also, it could be so that there r multiple entrances to new areas, making camping impossible.
