Hello everyone.
So today I downloaded Half-Life 2 on Steam. I loaded it up, and played for a bit (the game was quite laggy in a lot of places, don't know if that has anything to do with it), when the game froze and gave me a "HL2 has encountered a problem and needs to close, etc." message. I loaded it up once more, played for a bit, and it froze again. I restarted my computer, thinking it might help. It didn't. I later realized that every time I tried to save, or the game tried to auto-save, the game would freeze.

I am new to Steam, and don't know if there is a way to re-download the game without purchasing it again (if that would help).

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Verify game-cache files.

To do so:
Open your My Games tab in Steam > Right click on Half-Life 2 > Click Properties > Click the tab labeled 'Local Files' > Click 'Verify integrity of game cache'

You can also re-download Half Life 2 for free on as many times as you want on as many computers as you want, as long as you're still using the account you bought it on. If it's not installed, it will show up on your games list at the bottom with the play option turned into an install option.

To delete Half Life 2, just go to it on your games list, right click, and select "delete local content". If you have other games that require half life 2 files to run installed, it may require that you delete those games first.
