Half Life 2 - Nov. 15th in Canada, EH???

Went by EB a month ago to pre-order HL2 and they said the release date was NOV 15th!! So I just figured they were behind the times with everyone else and thought I would wait til they caught up with the Sept 30th release date. Well I went back there today and they still said the release date for HL2 was NOV 15th!! WTF!!!???!!! Please, someone else in Canada go to their local EB and let me know if they are the same, or my local EB is just a bunch of moronic fools!!

Even on EB online it says Sept 30th as the release date, so why is my EB so far behind? I am not waiting a month and a half after everyone else.. I want it the same damn day as everyone else, and not a second later.

Never trust EB on release dates. It's going to be a world wide release on september 30th.

And besides, it will be released on Steam as the same time.

I don't trust them, it's just that if they are not going to have it Sept 30th then I don't want to order it from them. I will more then likely buy it through STEAM if they have it working by then, but for the retail version I want it the same day also just in case my net goes down October 1st. With my luck , and my crappy cable provider, it is just likely to happen too.

There really isn't any other place out here that I know of that would get it Sept 30th, so if EB won't have it, neither will I. Except from STEAM, but who knows how bogged their servers are going to be upon release. I hope they are going to be ready for mass downloading the day they go live with HL2.

Then I would have to wait for them to ship it out to me and that could take days, especially from the states where it seems they are releasing it first.

I've said this in countless game forums but here goes, one more time.

GAME SHOPS MAKE UP RELEASE DATES TO MAKE YOU PREORDER THE GAME FROM THEM. If their date is different they can say they know more so people buy from them.

Do not believe any release date unless you hear it from the producer of the game or an official press release. And even then you're probably best off ignoring it.....

That's what I want to know jhero, WHY? I am asking any fellow Canadian to go by there local EB, if they haven't alredy, and ask them the release date on HL2... the one in my town says NOV 15th and I find that completely messed up considering EB online says the release date is the expected Sept 30th like everyone already knows. I asked the clerk why would it be Nov 15th at the store and Sept 30th online and on all official websites and all she could say is maybe they haven't been changed yet or updated to the release. But I went there over a month ago and it said it was Nov 15th, so why would it still have that as a release date when everywhere else is still Sept 30th? Unless my local EB isn't going to get the first batch of releases in which case I will drive out of town to an EB that will. My EB is so retarded, they overprice all their games at least 10 dollars more then Walmart, and their used games are about 5 bucks less then a brand new copy which is still more expensive then brand new at Walmart

I doubt that, they could delay release till Sept 30 2004 and I bet it will be the largest game release ever.

mine said nov 15th as well, and here is an email i sent to gabe, and his reply.

im Canadian too.. live in Toronto and ya i went both to EB and Compucentre.. and EB gave a Nov something date to me also..

i'll let u guess where i pre-ordered my copy of HL2 :cheers:

so my advice: look for a Compucentre, talk to them and most likely they have a September 30th release date as well

Yeah, EB's release date is off I think. I live in NW Ontario, and my local EB told me not to expect the game until Christmas time...

Ya I live north of Toronto (Youd know it as York Region if you live in Ontario) I checked EB and they said a Nov release date. Really stupid if you ask me, but I wouldn't worry about it. Games are almost always released at the same time in the U.S. and Canada so its really nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I pre-ordered my copy a couple weeks after seeing the E3 footage and the guy said it was coming out November 15th.
They most likely don't have a clue what they are talking about. Especially at my EB. The majority of the people that work there have never played a video game in their lives.
I'm hoping for September 30th as that's what Valve is stating.
If I don't get it i'm going to plant explosive devices in my EB for being right for once.

Why would they release it in australia on sept 30 and nov 15 for canada, dosent make any scence,

us aussies are always getting screwed over with releases

Guess we will have to wait and see.. I pre-ordered anyways from EB, but if they don't have it Sept 30th, I am going to be doing as gManiac says and jump the border to get a copy... of course I am also getting it from STEAM so I won't have to wait to play it, just to have a hard copy. Not going to wait 1½ months though
