It is going to have better lighting.oldagerocker said:Its going to look crap, they should wait and put it on Xbox2. still, i guess this is one of them Vivendi contract things...they have to release it.
StardogChampion said:I hope they dumb it down so it plays like crap and has everything stripped out. That'll give Xbox users a taste of their own medecine.

Good points. :thumbs:TheBleeding said:I enjoyed Half-Life 2 for its story, gameplay and its damn fun level. I could really care less for some light coming through a window.
boo hooz. Whats the matter, want to have the games ''full glory'' on the PC to yourself and not that other people who don't have OMGF HI TECH COMPS LLO can enjoy it? Pssh.
I'm getting it. Mainly because my PC didn't run it at is best (omg sue me) and I'd like to see what its like without the annoying lag I got. Plus, I no longer can play Half-Life 2 on my computer.

Nope, but in HL1's case, Counter-Strike is what put alot of money in VALVe's pockets.KagePrototype said:Mods didn't make Half-Life 2 one of the most critically acclaimed games of the year though, did it?
It's not really a part of replayability... because your not replaying HL2 at all, your playing (usualy) a totaly different game.Mods are not a criteria for their purchase decisions. Replayability, yes.
Pish posh!! Half-Life 2 is a fantastic single player game and definitely worth the purchase.Without HL2DM in the console version, theres really no reason to buy the game at all.
Chris_D said:People have to bare in mind that Valve aren't releasing this game on the XBox for us. Most of us will be much more comfortable playing the game on the PC, have a PC capable of better graphics and sound and generally appreciate it more on the PC.
However, there are millions more XBox players in the world than there is PC gamers. A really significant amount of people that would enjoy this game haven't got the opportunity to play it because either they can't afford a computer, can't use a computer or don't have a decent enough computer so there's going to be a massive target audience and that target isn't aimed at us at all.
EDIT: For example on Halo 2's first day of release it was estimated that it took over $125,000,000 in revenue. If you divide that by the average cost of the game (~$45), you get a figure of 2,777,778 copies sold. It took Half-Life 2 10 weeks to get 1,700,000 copies sold. Though that figure doesn't include Steam sales, it certainly still demonstrates how the userbase of XBox is much larger than that of PC games and will hopefully explain why it's getting released on the XBox
What do most of those have in common that HL2 dosent have? Replayablility.Mr-Fusion said:But again, the console market is different. They buy single player games for the single player experience. Think about all the single player only games that are extremely successful. Devil May Cry series, metal gear series, grand theft auto series, resident evil series, final fantasy series up until that recent mmorpg one, blood omen series. It just goes on and on.
HL2 does have replayability because of the quality of the campaign. But thats really about it though. However with games like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil, they dont offer many great rewards when you go through them a second time.WhiteZero said:What do most of those have in common that HL2 dosent have? In Meta Gear, you want to play them over again so you can get all the secret stuff and different endings. Same thing with Resident Evil. Final Fantasy games are worth the buy becuase they take 30+ hours to beat.
Most console games are developed with solid reasons to replay the game. HL2 dosent have any reward or alternate ending or anything of the sort that will entice people to replay it.
