WTF? I read on wikipedia thats its discontinued. Why? I really want to read this book, but I dont want to spend ****ing, $160 dollars for it... :flame:

It was only supposed to be a limited thing. If your really stuck you could get an E-version copy, i looked everywhere for one and couldn't find it so i had to resort to downloading it.

Does it make you guys feel any better that I keep mine on my subwoofer, which I use as a foot rest?

Mine was at the bottom of a stack of papers on the floor of my bedroom for years. Now it's in a cardboard box in my shed.

It is awesome though.

/lights a cigar with a burning wad of cash

I'm proud to say I bought mine for $25 about a year ago.

The seller misspelled "Half-Life" in the title.

I'm not so proud to say that I read a pirated copy that my brother had downloaded and printed. I found it in his room one day, so I was like, sweet.

Well, you can pick E-copy from prima games if you are interested.

No, you can't.

Got mine off Amazon. It's in a bookshelf ATM in between being used as a large coaster.

I have the book, and the bootleg PDF version lol.

I got mine about a year ago, i emailed Valve if they were still selling the book. They said no but they had a copy they could give to me for free, so i said of course :3. And they sent it in and it was brand new and still wrapped. Very nice of them to do. Awesome book.

Whoa whoa whoa. OP's name is Shasta. SHASTA? Is that some kind of coincidence?

But, yeah, I heard that Raising The Bar has a lot of beta info.

I really hate you now you lucky sod.

I got my for christmas the year it was released. It's an awesome read, with some great artwork!

I bought it back whenever it was released. Sucks that they're expensive now... I think I got mine at Best Buy for like $25. It really is an essential read for any serious fan of the Half-Life series though. Surely you can find one at a more reasonable price than $160?

To be honest I would have shelled out that much if it was that price back when I bought it. Its like eating a sand-wedge filled with all of the best ingredients (including several layers of meat) and then adding all of the second best ingredients , what was I saying again? Oh yeah , its like that but in book form.

When I ordered mine from the bookstore, I went to pick it up and the guy working the counter was like, "Oh, we didn't get it in."

It was behind him, HL2.net. He was trying to hide that shit from me and keep it for himself. Don't try and hide a big-ass book that's shiny white.

The worst bit is knowing that I own something that has allegedly increased to over six times its original value within two years of its deletion. When I die alone, disowned by my family and friends, at the age of sixty seven in my house packed full of decaying anime figurines and vintage disney memorabilia, some council worker is going to prise Raising the Bar from my cold, dead hands and use the money to have one of their penises coated in platinum.

You know what to do then, right? You put in your will that Darkside gets all your Disney stuff.

And maybe some of that anime stuff depending on what it is.
