Oh, and with the ideas taken into consideration, will that mean the Strider-Hunter connection thingy?

RTS HL2 should be like:

Held during a small period before 7-hour war and sometime after 7-hour war.
There are three factions: Human, Combine and Xen

Units of Human: What we have in reality.
Gordon Freeman: THE HERO. Somewhat like commando in C&C series.

Units of Combine: No combine solder, since they are converted from human later on.
Scanner: Reconnaissance unit. Can be upgraded to type II so they have stronger armor and can carry mines.
Hunter: Against infantries
Strider: Against buildings
Gunship: Aircraft, against infantries and other aircrafts.
Synth crab: Against vehicles
Carrier: Carrier
Advisor: THE HERO. Can capture one enemy unit and generate mental blast to produce large radius of damage around itself.
And other new units.

Units of Xen:
Chumtoad: Reconnaissance unit. Can (almost) instantly teleport back to base
Vort: Against infantries
Gargantua: Against vehicles, buildings
Rein Bullsquid: Long range. Against aircrafts and infantries
Nihilanth's pawn: Air unit
Nihilanth: THE HERO. Can use healing, or shooting green portal to produce massive splash damage.
And other arbitrary units.

Also, there should be neutral force, like those in Warcraft III. Antlions can spawn from sandhole, With different level of its variation (acid ant, Antlion guard, antlion queen, etc). There should be zombies and headcrabs as neutral enemy as well. Headcrabs have the ability to convert dead infantry to zombie.

I think it should be more like CoH, than WC3.

Sounds good but probably best as a mod for another RTS perhaps.
Edit: just saw Half life 2:Wars

I think you could you those zombie carrier units you see in the ravenholm chapter. You know to spread infection and such

like most people have already said that there could really be only combine vs rebels, but i think one could squeeze the antlions in somehow. Im not sure if their some kinda big queen of each nest but if there is you could be one of those like a general in antlion form or something like that, and to explain how you can control your units up on the earth while most antlions are underground, you could be some kinda flying overlord species that communicates with the antlions through mind power!

True, but how fun would it be to control a whopping TWO different types of units? Hordes of weak antlions, and a few tough but very mortal antlion guards. That's not enough to keep anyone interested for more than the 20 minutes it takes for the novelty of controlling antlions to wear off.

Let's not forget the Guardian and Workers, as well as the grubs.

Still good to have alternative non-player races in RTSs IMO. I loved Homeworld for this reason, and would put Homeworld 2's relative suckage down to its lack of 'few units, exotic designs' races like the Turanic Raiders and Kadesh, especially since you could 'capture' them and make your fleet look a little more rag-tag.

Perhaps you could work in an NPC 3rd 'Wildlife' Race to either a Multiplayer or Singleplayer HL RTS that includes stuff like Antlions. They act as both an environmental hazard and a resource in any given map: you build thumpers to keep the Antlions out of your way, defeat the Guards to create specialized Bugbait equipped 'Grenadier' units types, that kind of thing. If you ignore them, they're an occasional nuisance, but if you use them, they can be a helping hand. All in all, they could be used in a way that promotes a little 'factor X' into a potentially 'A versus B' RTS battle. You could apply this to other Xen creatures. Say, having a Gargantua plonked in the middle of the map. You could nuke it into oblivion to allow your forces safe passage, or you could get it pissed with one of your grunts, guide it straight into the enemy's base and make them deal with it before you launch your main strike the second it explodes.

In HL2:Wars we have zombies/antlions as an AI-controlled race (for singleplayer mostly). Although I haven't thought of bugbait-wielding units or using non-HL2 Xenians, that's pretty cool.

You should have a level where your in a BIG city and have those head crab pod things come flying out the sky and hit the ground so every1's like OMG head humpers! and you start out as 1 dude going around picking people up and forming a large group then make a base

HL in a "Natural Selection" type thing would be awesome, imo.
