Actually...I did exactly that. Now Gordon's a prosperous old man with grandkids, retired from his scientific career as a Theoretical Physicist (or something along those lines.)
Really though, The Sims 2 is an excellent game with endless possibilities, just not one that would appeal to most action gamers. In fact, it is so polar opposite to the action fare that it illicits irrational ire from the established action gamer and establishes a following in the non-gamer (girl-friends (as in friends who are girls) of mine who wouldn't give HL2 the time of day ask to play The Sims 2 on my computer because theirs can't run it.) I'm one of the special few who has enjoyed both The Sims 2 and Half-Life 2 immensely.
I can't speak for RTW personally, but I've heard very good things about it as an RTS. I'm tempted to get my hands on it once my spending money reserves recover from the HL2 shopping spree I've been on.
