I was just wondering if you may know if the soundtrack CD will be available somewhere else than in the *gold* Steam package. I don't want to purchase HL2 on Steam (cause I planning to buy the CE) and I really really want the CD... I still think they should have put it in the CE... Thanks!

Yes, I would rather a CD with the music (CD Quality music) then some 100 page book when I will buy the raising the bar anyway and dislike the spoilers in the other section of the book.

ya - that does sound like a very nice offer - i wonder how much that package will cost (my guess would be a good $90+), but more importantly, how in the world are they going to ship all that stuf out? it will be a massive box to hold all that stuf...half the cost of the gold package will be to ship their extras out...if would have made more sense to put the printed and soft-goods in the CE box, and have something else to give away online imo...then again, they've had plenty of time to figure this all out :P - so i'm sure they know what they're doing by now...

I hope they put that track that was on the 2004 trailer. That was cool.

Well it is the soundtrack, so almost certainly yes.

hmm...my bad...for some reason i thought i read that they were going to give away t-shirts over steam...still the posters, stickers, etc, are going to add a little cost with shipping and all...

i'd listen to the hl2 soundtrack in my car...it'd be awesome, i'd pretend i was in a stider and try to impale people...hmm...what a great idea!

Do any of you remember the ambient music on the Quake Full version CD that Trent Reznor of NIN made? Some seriously good stuff to listen to...not for driving really but good stuff to chill in front of the computer when I'm working.

Hopefully the music in HL2 will be good stuff. I don't recall much from the videos. I'll have to go watch them again...

I hope it has all the songs from the original HL....

It probably will.

the orriginal unreal soundrack is pretty awesome...a friend of mine let me borrow it and then moved off...so i still have it somewhere...some great ambient and synth parts...i still break it out every now and then...

It would be very easy to extract the music from the game itself. With every game soundtrack I like..I extract it and copy it to CD.

I'd be easier to d/l it P2P. :p I think I'll go look for the original HL soundtrack and grab that. Gonna buy this Gold edit tho.

Or you could just put the game cd in a player and listen to it that way  or don't you have HL? :flame:

It would be nice to have the soundtrack CD, when I get it (buying the gold on steam) I will just burn the songs onto mp3 then put them on mp3 player to use while im out. Prob wont even use the CD itself.

Dude don't rush,

you can get it on the Internet as soon as CD is available on Steam.

Valve / Vivendi may release another version of the CD/DVD version which includes the soundtrack.

Atari did that with UT2004 - the SE version came with a bonus 'making of dvd' and some other bits and bobs. The demand for the making of DVD was so high, they released another version of the DVD of UT2004 with the bonus disc, but not the other goodies (headset etc).

after the release of hl2 the cache files will be decrypted, so burning the ost on your own shouldnt be a (major) problem. or play without sound effects and record "what you hear".:-)

ive got a lot of game-ost's around here, but rarely listened to even one of theme. after hours of gameplay youve heard them so many times, and even the funkiest track will become boring.
