Half-Life 2 Staff Needed at Proving Grounds

Despite the delay of Half-Life 2 , all of us over at the Proving Grounds are hard at work preparing for it's arrival. How can we be preparing for a game that has not been released you ask? Well for one thing we need Staff to help administer the new ladders that will be created for the explosion of players sure to hit The Proving Grounds for some Half Life 2 Deathmatch action.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Proving Grounds, we've been around for many years with over 100 ladders covering dozens of games. Every week, Proving Grounds teams play over 300 matches combined. We pride ourselves on our ethical standards, which are reflected in our rules and staff members.

Hop over to the new Half-Life 2 Forums and let us know what ladders and tournaments you think should be at PG! (Of course, its all a guess right now with the game's multiplayer element being so secretive, but it doesn't hurt to take some wild guesses!). While you're there click that Join Our Staff link and fill out our application today in order to join our staff, if you're interested in Half-Life 2 and have time to spare.

Going on the assumption HL2 will have deathmatch.
(Yes I know, easy assumption, but assumption nonetheless).

so how many total do you need for the team?

No doubt there will be multiplayer functionality, what that will be is anyone's guess. In the meantime, we can prepare for Half-Life 2 ladders and tournaments by pooling together what info we already know about HL2. With the explosion of players we're anticipating, it's safe to say we're going to need alot of staff to support these new ladders and tournaments. So please go sign up here!

If it's anything like the RTCW league I ran for Jolt you do it because you love it.

And then when you end up with waaaay too much to do and none of your refs showing up when you need them for games you gnash your teeth in frustration a great deal.

It also helps not to be starting up your own business at the same time which I was. It's much more time demanding than you'd expect

I will have to come back here later and sign up because right now I only have a few minutes; thanks for coming to these boards to ask for help

leave it to pg to already be looking for hl2 staff, when they have no way to judge either it's success or any sort of rules for the ordeal.

With well over 1 million copies of Half-Life sold, it's a safe bet that Half-Life 2 will be a HUGE success. And with over 100 ladders covering dozens of games and a totally automated web site to support it, I'd say we have a good leg up on getting ladders, tournaments, and rules for the same up very quickly. Why wait until it's out to start getting ready - no time like the present!

Let me know PSX. I'll be on the lookout for an application. Thanks!

Ummm.. Try more like almost 8 million copies, on the PC alone..

Just my 2 cents :)

And I would be more then happy to help in anyway I could..

(and yes, I am still not here :D)

Well I did say OVER 1 million :p but that's more than I thought.

Anyways, glad to hear you are interested in helping out. Hop over to Proving Grounds and click the Join Staff link on the left when you are ready. Then visit us in #provinggrounds on GamesNet so we can talk. Thanks.

I'm not sure. You'd have to speak with one of the Site Administrators . One way to find out - fill out an application listing your qualifications. The admins receive all applications.

We' ve received many applications but are still looking for more. If you are interested in working with a great staff to help administer Half-Life 2 tournaments and ladders, please apply here.
