Half Life 2 - Windows XP x64 problem

I'm a user of Windows Xp x64 and i install the halflife 2 ver 1.0 on my computer; my system is:
* Asus P5Q Pro motherboard
* Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @3.00 Ghz
* 4 gb ram
* 512 mb nvdia 9800gt hybridpower vga

However, the game does not work. What can I do? Is there a patch about windows xp x64 or a new version of the game for x64 systems?
Please help me...

i clicked the launcher.exe and then i see "valve" icon then a short loading text appears suddenly 2 error windows are coming;these are:

i think it's about my OC because my last system before this system was 2600+ amd 1 gb of ram 256 vga but i was running hl2 fine but i was using windows xp 32 bit

Try adding -heapsize 512000 to your launch options.

Your problem is that you're not using Steam. Steam keeps your games up to date with the latest patches, and without it we can't help you solve your problem
