Half Life 2 (xbox Edition)

Hey as you all know Half Life 2 is coming out for Xbox sometime at the end of summer or before holiday season.

But whats up with it?

-will the graphics be as good as the original? (doubt it, but how close?)
-will it have multiplayer or "an xbox live version" of HL2 DM included with it?
-if it has HL2 DM, might CSS come with it?
-and finally.. will it add anything extra that the PC version didnt have?

all these questions that i have need to be answered RIGHT NOW!

they were going to but if they did it would delay the game even longer for xbox and i would like to try it on xbox

It was confirmed ages ago that there wouldn't be any mp form on the xbox as it wouldn't play aswell as the pc version, the graphics would have to be lowered quite a bit, but in my opinion i think they should have waited until the release of the xbox 360 and stick hl2 on thjat tbh.

In any case it'll most likely be less enjoyable on Console - for me, anyway, Not sure about the rest of humanity. The only saving on consoles is in terms of money... and getting games to work first go... and no sudden outdating after 3 weeks... and...

Oh well, they don't get bug patches.

It will be interesting to see what they manage on the Xbox, as its specs are rather below the PC min spec. I'm currently picturing a cut down version of the game, in terms of graphical quality and I'm not sure how well it will handle all the physics.

Personally, I have never been a fan of FPS's on consoles, it doesn't feel right without a mouse. Still, we shall see.

I've got it on PC but will be picking it up for the Xbox as well.

As I understand there won't be MP, I doubt anything will be added, and it'll probably look like a low to medium end spec PC running HL2 (I'm guessing here).

Run HL2 in 640x480 with all settings on low, plug that in to a tv and that's close to what it should look like.

Umm... No the creators said and so did G4 at E3 that it was running as smooth as ever. They aparently DID get it to run smoothly.

One thing I'm looking forward to is the new streaming technology they had to develop for this xbox version. I'm hoping that it will make load times less of an issue - one of the big annoyances for me with the pc version.

Load times were ok as long as you had a fairly decent cpu and ram, but yeah i see where ya coming from.

I got to play it at E3 this year and on the version i played, the framerate was horrible and it runs at 640x480, it just doesnt look like HL2 should look, i think they should of waited till the xbox 360 until they released this game on console. Its only running at 30 fps from what i could tell, thats horrid!

I'm getting it for the X-Box because Half-Life 2 doesn't work on my PC anymore. And I want to play the game again, this time in better shape and speed. My PC isn't a 'pimped-up Avalon geforce x92929282' computer, so it didn't run the game very well (laggy in big fire fights, stutter, slow loading times, not great graphics) so it'll be good to play it in better form.

Yeah I was hoping it would have Xbox Live. But I'll stick with the PC version since it won't have any MP.

Yeah i have to admit, i am a big gamer on xbox live so i was also disappointed by the "no live" experience for it, however css and hl2dm run ok on my computer so im still happy

I for one am back spasming with joy when i think of HL2 comin to the XBOX. the one thing i cant wait for is the riddening or at least shortening of the load times.

Wow, chill out man. Most gamers don't lie about going to E3, and in fact have almost zero reason to.

Secondly, it's not because it's a demo, it's because it was still fairly early. Perhaps they've optimized it a bit, and sped it up since then, perhaps not.

Thirdly, games on a TV ALWAYS run at (basically) 640x480. If not, then it's HDTV resolution at, I believe, 1080x720, which and comparing the two is like night and day. Also, 60fps feels a lot different than 30fps, and a geek like him (evidence: went to E3, has a really good computer. Obviously he games a lot) can tell instantly if a console game is running at either speed.

In short? Don't be a dumbass, especially in a medium where the only thing that matters is your character.

Oh, and I feel it's nothing special as well (and not just because I don't own an Xbox). Basically, if you have a computer that was new and pretty good since ~3 years ago, there's virtually no reason to get HL2 on Xbox, unless you either hate Steam with all of the power in your body or don't like the loadtimes that are as low as 10seconds or as high as 60.

Graphics should hold fine. The Xbox's architecture is such that it will go to lengths other consoles couldn't go to. Loading times are what worry me.
