Half Life 2?

I hate to say, but I think I am the only person in the world who has never played Half-Life! HL2 looks awesome, and I can't wait to get it. Any pointers for a noob to HL. I have played alot of UT, UT2003/2004, Quake (all), Doom 3, Ravenshield, etc. is it similar to any of these?

Thanks - Can't wait. I had said would wait to get for Christmas, but man that will be a long wait. I guess I could get HL, and play till then. lol.

Sorry to say this but half life is very different from those games. I too play UT2004 a lot, and one thing I noticed is that the bullets travel at a slower rate in UT 2004 eg. the rocket launcher’s missiles travel at a set speed so that you can time it right and aim at the right spot so that by the time the missiles reaches its destination, your opponents can move away from it in time. In half life 1 it’s like running around with a sniper gun from UT2004. UT 2004 is much more advanced in every thinkable way than half life 1 MP, but thats because HL1 is so old and UT2004 focuses more on MP. Hopefully the new HL2 MP DM that modders will create will be fun.

Point & Click (Aim & Shoot to be more precise) Adventure in which you take on the role of one accidental hero Gordon Freeman who looks like a right tit in that orange HazMat suit, but what-the-hey!

Get the collectors edition of HL2 and you get a port of the original game inside as an extra (just added physics and water effect, besides that nothing is new)

New to the half life experience
Play half life original this weekend, don't complain about shitty graphics or bad AI. Or terrible physics, just play it. beat it. and then play half life 2.

"feel of the controls"-wise HL1 is like Q2 i guess, that's just the era it is from.

expect to engage ur brain a bit more than in the UT games

but what is good about HL1 can't really be described - it's the whole "world" it puts u in. it doesn't really thump u over the head with the story, instead the whole game acts like u already know what is going on when u don't really... hard to describe, just play it.

yep, tuesday. I'm peronally going to replay the ported version of HL1 before I jump into HL2 to get a refresher on the half-life universe.
