3 proper episodes then an actual expansion pack (i.e. non-essential to the story) made by an independant developer. Then there's always the possibility of the Lamarr mod Valve mentioned in roughly January 05.

Sorry to say this.... but did contact valve support once and found out that the pople in their support dept are a bunch of morons. Or blockheads or total idiots.

Half-Life 3 will be Half-Life 3 \o/

I wish this was the truth, not a big fan of "episodic" gaming.

People can think the HL2 episode's are HL3 but yet they're not. The Half-Life 2 episode's just extend on the story arc of the Half-Life 2 story, to answer some of the questions & cliff hangers that were left unanswered at the end of HL2 as well as raising new questions as well. The episode's were also supposed to be released alot quicker than the full game, approximatly 6 months; Sadly enough, it was more. So the episode's have failed in their approach & have not been a success in my book.


What I am trying to say is this, The Hl2 episode's extend the story arc, where as HL3 is a completely new Half-Life game in its entirety.

Nope. Half-Life 3 will be whatever Half-Life 3 is. It may be an episodic sequel or full-sized game continuation of Half-Life 2 Episodes. It may be a episodic or full-sized jump forward in time. It may be either of the above with a quantum leap in graphics or other technology. We cannot say what form Half-Life 3 will take. Aside from the fact that Valve seem keen to take Half-Life beyond Half-Life 2 episodes, we cannot even say with certainty that the name 'Half-Life 3' will ever be used.

All we can definately say about Half-Life 3 is that Half-Life 2 Episodes are NOT Half-Life 3. Because if they were, they would be CALLED Half-Life 3 (or at least Half-Life 3 Episodes)
