Looking for something totally unrelated to half life² in google image search i found this:

And I wonder if anyone knows where to get those, if it's possible?

It just looks too good to be fan made.

3dsmax or xsi combined with High Definition Rendering (the real HDR) is your answer

it is fan made - and it is real (well not in a literal 3d sense )
nick 'daikatana' bertke is largely responsible for starting this phenomena using 3dsmax- he's become a bit of a legend along the way
i prefer using 3dsmax for other things but props to the guys - adil, daikatana, jecky666 et al

Well, there goes my dream of owning combine figures...

thats the idea to make game characters fit into real life
the level of detail on hl2 characters makes this possible and adding reflections in photoshop adds to the illusion
by creating shadows and reflections and matching the character to the surrounding colours you can make the scene as realistic as you want

Man when I saw the name of this thread and then saw the first pic of a combine elite...I almost wet myslelf....I would love to have a collection of combine troops along with dog,alyx and gordon....I wish there was a way to make this happen..look at the halo figures, they have been a huge success, mcfarlane could do these and make them look realistic since they have done wonders with their military line...if only...
