This article was on the front page of today's edition of Times of India.

Now, apart from the numerous factual errors, there's also the piss poor, sensationalist journalism that's a problem. Articles about gamers, technofreaks and net nerds regularly feature in the supplements of this paper (it's one of the leading english dailies here). And they are always uninformed attempts at fear mongering.

Why would anyone agree to publish this garbage? More importantly, why do normal, educated people continue to believe this sh*t?
Does anybody actually believe that gaming = pr0n/pedo/gay/s&m?

EDIT: I also found this piece of gold. Extreme gamers, lol!

When is that generation of luddites just going to die out?

That's what happens when you give someone a subject which they know nothing about and a deadline.

The games that Mayank plays include Max Payne, Thrones of Chaos, Need For Speed and Half Life. Most of these are Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs), which typically require at least six players. In such games, there are usually girls who shed layers of clothing as the gamer progresses. There are also games where the player can denude characters and do more.

ahahahahahahaha... hahaha.. oh my god

Ignorant morons. It's like having an Ethiopian newspaper do an article on gourmet cuisine.

What the hell?
I thought the fear mongering in Germany was bad, but that's absolutely ridiculous.

this is the biggest bullshit ive ever seen. half life, MMORPG, shed clothes, nudity???

WTF

That's absolutely hilarious. In the UK that could pass as a piece of satirical comedy.

What's not to find amusing about it? That serious opposition to gamers can come from such uninformed people?

But you would be...

I hate the media, just can't wait till the older generation of bad writers die off and younger ones take their place.

Nudity in Half-Life 2? Pff, I wish, they could have made Alyx show a little more flesh. Maybe have her fight the Combine in a bikini or something.

This is too funny.

Just to quote it

from the really poor article said:

I think he should of done a bit more research into genre and game types

That is the most retarded and biased article I've ever read based on no fact at all.

Man, I missed out. Some secret level that you need to unlock or something? And I thought I beat the whole game.

That is hilarious.

yea because my favorite chapter of HL was "Anonymous Hentai"

ahhahaaaaaa this is awesome. It reminds me of something along the lines of your grandmother describing how to rebuild an engine.

Better yet, it is similar to a man describing what it feels like to give birth.

I'd like to have a voice to whoever wrote that and just say simply, "You have no FUCKING idea what you are talking about, do you?"

No, I think it's just going to get progressively worse over time.

leave feedback to the author, preferably "kill yourself"

As I see it is too easy to become a newswriter/reporter/whatevermediaperson.
It is funny to read when you know. It must be quite ugly to read when you don't know nothing of the subject.
<3 PEDO-SADO-ADDICTIVE-GORY-EROTIC-EXPENSIVE-PERVERSE-RACIST video games indusrty.

It's funny because HL( and im assuming need for speed) has no female characters..outside of that training chick..who is clearly a hologram and wearing a full body hazard suit.

dude, you have no idea what i did to that training hologram.

Requires 6 players?
Pff, that can be so denounced.

Go buy Star Wars Galaxies. Theed has like 2 people in it now.. It used to be like freakin IRONFORGE.

Meh. It's not like it's going to have much effect, seeing as most of Valve's customers are American. I'd be more worried about an American or British journalist writing something like that.

BTW,

Well that's just the thing, a country of nearly a billion people who generally don't play videogames are being fed absolute bullshit on the subject, so now people in India are going to think that games are the devil.

BTW, this is pretty disgraceful journalism, not just to videogames but to the paper, the man who wrote it, and the profession as a whole.
