so i went and bought a used copy of it just so i could play the Half Life: Decay part.. yeah so what.. i was curious.. sue me :p

anyway.. this being the first time ever i've played a fps/3d shooter on a console..all i gotta say is... OMG!!!!!

how can anyone enjoy the experience Half Life is supposed to give using a console? seriously.. i mean it had some of the Half Life feel to it..but nothing compared to how involved it is for PC. maybe its just me and first time trying an fps on console.. :|

okay now to the reason why i created the thread..

note: i have not played Decay yet.. was just horsing around in Half Life..trying to get the feel of it.

to the masses that have played Half Life on PC and will play Half Life2 on PC... do u feel that Valve should create the extra part of HL2 for PC only?

i do feel that way... i feel that the HL series should have its loyalties with the PC crowd since this is the crowd that made HL what it really is today.

i don't like the fact that Decay was only available through console... now granted for some of u its no big deal.. but for others, it is.
especially those who follow the HL series closely.. and don't own a console.

why should the console crowd get something extra like Decay? doesn't the PC crowd deserve this more?

i hope for HL2 they really think of the PC crowd this time around...

ur thoughts?

I think they should not make a console version at all, and spend their time on expansions and half-life 3.

well, they said they were looking out for the pc users first and foremost by releasing it on pc first, but i dont know if theres going to be anything extra that's released on any format exclusively. it would be great to gloat though having something exclusive over the console users :D.

and all console fps's arent bad. timesplitters, goldeneye and metroid prime (i didnt really get into it, but it good good reviews and everyone loves it) are all superb games.

i think were payed back with the mods. dod is more fun than anything ive ever played on a console and is essentially free.

Ugh, the console people want everything, games should either be made for console or PC, ports always suck.

I can't believe people actually like playing a game with a joystick or anything .. a mouse and keyboard is the best :)

fps @ console : Sucks.

I just wanna add, that I doubt any of Gearbox's Half-life titles will have any effect on the Half-Life story or universe. So in HL2 I doubt we'll be hearing anything about Adrian, or Decay's explanation for the Portals. Blue Shift would be the most likely of all of Gearbox's titles to have an effect on the HL2 story seeing as how Barney made it out alive and to C17. I dont thing the stories for any of Gearbox's titles were written by Laidlaw anyways. Though Decay is pretty fun. Would probably be a blast in multiplayer.

What is Decay all about, i went to some website that added bits of story in but didnt get how you played it... Are you some other character Gordon never meets?

Decay rocked, especially if you do play it with a friend rather than switching between both characters.
I've played HL on the console, but I found it less fun - keyboard + mouse are the ultimate controls.

im a major fan of half life for pc and always have been and what your saying about it not retaining its original feeling on ps2...just...doesnt make sense to me.....its exactly the same game

its quite a good port over to ps2 aswell....its not shabbily done like say the max payne port for ps2....and decay is MASSIVE fun

The only reason why HL PS2 isn't as good and not original-feeling is because of the joypad controls. It certainly would be exactly the same game if you could use the mouse and keyboard set up.

i really hope ur wrong on this...not because i hate u or anything (actually i think ur a decent poster here :E ) but because the Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Decay titles had the HL universe feel to it.. at least when i played those titles for PC i felt like i was playing a part of the HL universe.. just from a different perception (ie: Adrian and not Gordon).

so im hoping that the characters of OP4, BS and Decay are involved with HL2 and at some point.. be it in the game or expansions of the game.. i hope we see what happens with these characters.

as for ur comments on Marc Laidlaw not having anything to do with these titles.. well for the PS2 version of HL1, his name is given in the credits.. not sure what to make of that.

You can use a keyboard and mouse on HL for the PS2.

I played HL on PS2, there's so much slowdown it's not funny. I agree, HL2 shouldn't be put on a console at any stage, it degrades the game completely.

So what is the big difference in Decay? What is the story run-down?

Check out the Incident page. It's got the story compiled from the 2 expansions and Decay. Take all mentions of the gman and his motivations as speculation - the author of that page said that due to the complete lack of information on his background, he made some stuff up to make it sound better.

Yep, just plug a usb keyboard and a usb mouse into the usb slots on the ps2 and bam you've got good controls.

We've got a keyboard made for our ps2 but not a mouse.
