Half Life Gold w/DVD reader

Yes, That's right, I don't have a DVD reader, so I'm thinking of getting the CD version. But if I buy the gold edition, can I just put in my CD key and DL it from steam so I don't even need the DVD?

Yeah, you can dl it again, or you can back it up via the handy steam backup thing with cd's.

Eh? anything you buy from steam you download from the net each time you want to install it. Only the Retail stuff you have to install from a CD or DVD.

Yup, and you won't evenget the dvd.

Unless you mean collectors edition from the stores.

When i put in my retail CD key Stam told me to insert CD 1

that would probably work but i understand why you would still need the cds...

since there is 2 retail versions steam would need to know which ones as it only asks for the key when you register it...
