Half-Life : Old school

Do any of you guys remember Half-Life: Uplink? I believe it was the promotional demo released a few weeks (?) before Half-Life was officially released.

I still remember playing it for the first time.
If I had never played uplink, I doubt I would have bought half-life at all.

I thought uplink came out WAY after HL... But maybe I'm wrong.

It is quite possible, I really don't remember

From what I remember, I bought half-life the day it came out, So either its that memory that is wrong, or uplink came out before It was released.


Either way I don't really care, It was soooooooooooooo long ago.

yeah, it was a while after halflife came out. There was no demo when half life came out into stores. Thats why i didn't buy it. Then, i played the demo a few weeks or months or whatever, and was amazed. so i bought.

Uplink was released later. The 'pre-release' demonstration version was an OEM version known as "Half-Life: Day One", which was just the first part of the game, up until after you get to the surface for the first time, and are driven back underground by the grunts and their helicopters. It was never meant for the public, but I had a copy sent to me by a friend of mine who worked for a game magazine. It completely blew me away. I wish I still had it - some parts were different to the final HL and it would really bring back memories.

Anyone still have a copy of the old OEM?

Way after. Like 3 months after or so. In fact, Uplink was so popular they released it as a HL mod for those who already had the full version but wanted to play the ultimate pwnage that was Uplink.
