One of the things that sucks about HL2 is the real lack of that survival, "crap I'm screwed" feeling. There's way too much health and ammo around. I remember in HL1 when you were so relieved to finally find one of those health dispensing units and ammo. Running around Black Mesa with only 12 rounds of shotgun ammo was stressful and fun! It made you be a better player and immersed you further into the world.
HL2 is like any other shooter. It's probably the best shooter out there but it doesn't compare to HL1. It just isn't as good.
