Hi,

I'm SidewinderX, and I am a Moderator at HL2.net. This post does not reflect any options of hl2.net, etc, etc. I just wish that these questions be answered in a reasonable manner.

First off, please no ad hominem attacks on anyone....

HL2.net sucks. We all know that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would you care to provide reason for this?

haven't been here in a couple of months, but Half Life Radio has come along ways since it first started. I do recall that the radio quoted a few interviews that were done by a few people at HL2.net. Everyone on GameSHOUT IRC thought HL2.net was a joke for making an attempt to do a real interview. Once people at HL2.net got wind that the interviews were quoted on the air, they quickly removed them from their site. This happened last summer. So, I can understand why Half Life Radio is quick to question any content thats on HL2.net (especially from some of the peons there). I admit I still visit there regularly and enjoy both sites and really don't care about this bashing (yeah, HL2.net is up to their old tricks again and bashing Half Life Radio... what's new? some things just don't change and some kiddies never grow up). Half Life Radio has earned the credibility and respect in the community, and valve has been here to back them up. I just would like to see the bashing stop though as it doesn't serve any purpose other than, "my dick is bigger than your's". HL2.net, grow up.

I personally do not remember this fake interview incident, so could you please provide details? IE, dates, topics, who was involved...

Gee, Valve has already been on the radio. This is what I'm talking about. Such idiots that have not a clue.

I haven't listened to HLRadio religiously, so I might have missed this. Are you refering to the time when a HLRadio staff member toured Valve HQ and then talk on the radio about it and how hard Valve was working?

I like how Munro pretends to be a victim based on his very own mistakes in the past. Don't let this guy fool you, he has faked interviews, emails, hit counters, and has been at war with other sites before. Munro I would just drop it and go back to where you came from. I mean really, I left your site to get away from you
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would you be as kind as to provide evidence of these fake interviews, hit counters, and emails?

Thank You. I await a response. And please, I have acted maturely here, I ask that you all do that same.

I gotta wonder why their closing and locking the threads over there, maybe they don't have the answers?

Anyway, Andy could atleast do the same on his site to allow his staff to respond without censorship. It's only fair to all concerned. I can understand if he's doing it to prevent his users from posting unsavory and one sided comments but silencing everything is a bit much.

I don't know, my IP has been banned from the site... so if anyone has Andy's e-mail, i'd like to have it.

Well, I talked to Andy on IRC, and it wasn't him who banned us. It was "High" He said that he will reinstate us on the site, and that he had nothing to do with us being banned and the threads deleted.

I was banned as well, for those who didn't catch my end of the story, here goes.

Yesterday, at around 12PM, I first heard of HLRadio's post. It was linked at this thread, first post on the page, the post was quoted as follows:

HLRadio.com said:
Here we go again, another round of rumors and gossip in the Half-Life 2 community. First, GameSpot runs an article that says that the Half-Life 2 SDK is coming out. Of course, the only evidence of this is a so-called email that was found on another website that is famous for staging fake emails and interviews in the past.

Apparently, the email floating around from Yahn Bernier and/or Rick Ellis has been modified stating that the Half-Life 2 SDK is within a month or 2 away. The email further states that there was a "legal hang-up" regarding the delay.

The information is false. Valve told Half-Life Radio today that they very much doubt Rick Ellis or Yahn Bernier addressed anything regarding the Half-Life 2 SDK in any email or message board whatsoever and, "there are no legal hang-ups regarding the SDK release." They went on to say that the Steam SDK is the only SDK at this time that Valve might be releasing soon for Half-Life Mod developers (to port their games to the Steam format).

Following this news post, I decided to register at HLRadio's site and put up my reply to their "article." I don't have my exact reply, as I didn't save it, but I'll reitterate what I said.

"On behalf of HL2.net, I have to ask.. is this a joke? Faked interviews? Faked e-mails? This has never happened at our site.

Most (if not all) of the e-mails in the VALVe info thread are authentic, the mods do their best jobs to confirm validity of these e-mails and keep a careful watch on the VALVe info thread.

As for the faked interviews -- this has NEVER occured at HL2.net.

Please recheck the Gamespot article, here's a link:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2/news_6086151.html

Gamespot.com said:
The impending SDK released was confirmed Valve PR head Doug Lombardi. "We will be releasing v.1 of that in the coming weeks," he told GameSpot. Presumably, the game's release would be not far behind.

Please provide evidence when making such audacious claims. Don't spread rumors about HL2.net. Thanks"
----------------
(That may not be word for word, but, to the best of my memory, that was about it. I was civil, and in no way flamed the site for their post.)

Following my reply, I linked to my reply on our forums, but Brian Damage informed me that the post was deleted.
I went to check for myself, and I got the following message:
"Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here"

I was slightly confused as to why I was banned, so I checked up at HLRadio on my other computer. To my surprise, the original thread had been deleted and it had been recreated, my reply was nowhere in site.

Re-reading the article, it was the same, except for the lower portion of the article. The article went from "The information is false. Valve told Half-Life Radio today..." to "The "legal hangup" information is false. Valve told Half-Life Radio today..."
This further sparked my interest, seeing as how there was no possible was HLRadio could have talked to VALVe in a 5 minute period -- or, for that matter, VALVe changing their statement regarding the validity of the SDK news.

Since then, the post has apparently been further edited, and I'm still a little shady as to why HLRadio won't acknowledge Gamespot's confirmation of the SDK news.

This was as far as my basic involvement went. Just thought I'd share my side of the story.

Well... before this gets out of han, I'm going to lock it.

If anyone from HLRadio wishes to express something, or explain themselves, or for some other reason don't think they had a chance to respond, please pm me, and i'll add your response to the thread.
