looks like a pirated retailer to me, a lot of countries do that. there's no box, the title on the case is not translated into russian, it is supposedly only in a single trader. also, there are no manufacturer logos listed on the case, no valve/vivendi logo whatsoever, just some guy who put the stolen pseudo-beta on 2 cds.

Probably just the compile of the stolen code that's been selling over there. It's just the beta dressed up.

"Plot inconsistencies"? Heh, more like literal plot holes... and texture holes, and model holes, and code holes, and so on and so forth...

One part of me says: Damn, I wish I'd live in Russia. I could go out and buy the game, pretending to be stupid and fall for it, and nobody would get mad at me for getting the Beta. I mean, my ethics keep me from downloading it now, but what if I were in russia, you know?
The other part of me says: poor russian adolescents, they go like: "Cool! HL2!", and they put down alot of money for it, get home, and it's a messed up beta version with tears and holes everywhere (in the plot/textures i mean).

its fargus who released that..its all over russia's markets. it costs about 5bux like every other game there. most people know its a beta. I bet they made it more playable than it was. fargus even has a website!

how do i know all that? well i was in russia 2 years ago. and 5 years or more ago i bought age of empires 2(which was not yet released but already for sale in russia)

all I can say is if you want to savour the experiance people tempted to go looking for the Beta DONT, i havnt. and will most certainly enjoy going into the FULL working , flowing story and game with absolutely no idea of what will happen,, and its going to be fantastic because thats what its all about. the wait is all part of it. Playing anything but the full, perfected game.. and especially a game like this, should be a crime. a crime of mass destruction.. lol. fear the Beta. Ive heard its a complete spoiler in all its crappiness
