So, It's been a long time since we've heard any news about Half Life 2: Episode 3, and I think we all know it's going to be even longer until we do, and that the game may never come.

Well, I happen to think one of the most important parts of every game is the community. So, why don't we get out there and show some support?

Starting Sunday, May 15th, and proceeding through the following week, EVERYONE runs through ANY and ALL the Half-Life games you have.

This is to show Valve that we're still here, we're still waiting, and we're still ready for the next game! If we get enough people playing through these games at once, that ought to get their attention!

Of course, I don't expect this will magically convince Valve to make the game, but if we could get a few thousand people logging hours, maybe they'll start to take notice. Besides, it'll be fun!

Interesting. I used to believe in these sort of things, but realistically if they have a schedule, its unlikely they aren't going to change it just because of a few extra thousand hours logged in.

That said I will join in as a silent protest against Valve taking too long for past game releases for the half life series.

I think he implied that Half Life 3 will go through another long incubation period, like what happened to HL2, that nobody wants.

I don't understand how anyone can change how long the game is going to take to come out. How is valve going to be like "Hmm everyone wants HL3/ep3 really bad, let's make it faster lol!"

Well that was nerboking's thinking. I guess it sucks to be too successful when you create a game that bagged over 50 game awards and gamers are experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

EDIT: To Nerboking, please check my PM.

Since you are online at the moment I want to know what are your targets for this week long operation.

Sure thing: we're not expecting a magic change of heart overnight. What I was hoping for was just a community activity, to demonstrate to Valve that the community is still present and ready for the next game. I figured they wouldn't notice unless we had a thousand or so people, and it's become clear that that's not a realistic scenario, but it's still nice to join in just for fun.
The idea is to log as many hours as possible in Half-Life titles. So, Half-Life, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life Opposing Force, Half-Life Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2.

The most number of hours possible in any one game per person is 168 hours. Unless there is a way to allow multiple games to run on steam on one computer.

We´ve been waiting way to long now. I won´t buy a single Valve game until Episode 3 is advertized, I haven´t bought Portal 2 and wont be buying it either. Someone more in for a boycott?

I didn't buy or play Portal 2 simply because I am more interested in the Half Life storyline and the first Portal didn't really spark my interest.

I have lurked around the half life community long enough to know calling boycotts will have little effect ultimately on Valve's decision making.

Well this thread is just full of useless causes, isn't it?

They're right, I really don't think that's a good idea. For one thing, there's virtually no potential to get critical mass - most of the community has already bought Portal 2, and the remaining aren't going to be convinced to join a boycott. Furthermore, I think a more positive demonstration would be much more likely to hit home - rather than breeding resentment between the developer and its community - if we can just get critical mass.

This thread is retarded and everyone in it, including Vegeta, is retarded. I'm out this bitch y'all.

i think it's a kinda good idea.. also, just for the fun of it... :D even though it might not change all that much, it could be nice to show that we haven't forgotten about it.. :D
