Half Life: Source is

not loading for some reason...

HL2 works/runs/loads perfectly...

However every time I try to play HL1 source, the game just sits at the loading screen at the very beginning...

Do i have to have half life 1 installed?....I just downloaded HL:source through steam

Maybe HL Source has actually gained a concience. Maybe it's not starting because it feels sorry for trying to trick you into thinking this is a new game of sorts.

You see it's actually not very different at all from Half-Life. Some nice water effects and thats about it.

the models look better, so do the guns/effects. Textures all look about the same, but hell, HL is still a fun damned game!

HL: Source did this to me first time I ran it too.

My advice is to make sure it's at 100% downloaded and ready to play, and then just give it another go.

Edit: Then again, you could re-validate your HL: Source cache.

"In Steam\SteamApps folder rename the file sourcemodels.gcf to something else. Launch the game and it'll download a replacement file from Steam which should sort it out."
