half life theme song

When you come to think of it, the Half life series doesn't really have a tune thats associated with it let alone some kind of theme song... Obviously a great example of this is halo with that melodic chorus. i know that half life music is electric and techno driven (which is awesome), but even then a theme song would be interesting. I don't really have much of an opinion on this, because a theme song may seem a cliche and make the half life series seem a little cheesier, or it could simply be really cool.

I was playing half-life: decay (the new mod on pc) and the menu music is practically the same, if not a little different, to the menu music on the PS2 version of Half-Life 1, which was always a really neat/catchy tune. What do you guys think, if kelly bailey took this and did all kinds of variations, it would be pretty sweet.

Thats awesome i loved the theme music for the PS2 menu of HL!!!! i used to just stay on the menu to listen to it, it rocks!!
 
Imo the PS2 menu theme has always been the theme tune.
 
I always though the Half-Life/Valve theme song is the one that plays for a couple seconds when you start up any Valve game, while it shows the dude with the red Valve sticking out of his head/eye.
It also played in HL2 when you first get the HEV suit, and it played in Opposing Force, and it's among the HL1 sound files ("halflife13" was the filename, i think)
 
The title is "Hazardous Environments" on the HL2 Soundtrack. That's the Valve theme, so Half-Life doesn't exactly have its own. I don't really think the PS2 theme is "strong" enough.
 
I'd say that the HEV suit music is the Half-Life theme song because back in the day Valve was Half-Life.
 
Path to Borealis (fan remix of HEV suit theme) is the best theme song.
 
Number 1, the video just posted is a remix by DJ Dain, a member of VGMix.
Number 2, anyone claiming otherwise is a jerk.
Number 3, the title is actually "That Long Train Ride", and
Number 4, it's a remix of "Triage at Dawn."

Sometimes I hate the Internet for the ease of claiming something that's clearly not yours as your own.

What? I don't think anyone was claiming anything, i was asking if that was the remix song test was talking about. Guess not, can somone please post the song he was talking about, i can't find it.
 
Well, I'm not accusing anyone here of claiming it as their own, but I have seen two YouTube videos that have the posters claim such. The video posted in this thread does exactly that.

Well anyways, the song in that video wasn't made from scratched, i recognize some of the tracks from half life songs so technically its made by kelly bailey, and remixed by someone else. Its not the point of the the thread, so lets not derail it, mkaayy?? Someone got a link to the HEV remix yet...

Yea I always assumed this tune to be the "theme song" of Half-Life
 
Oh yeah i remember the tune as you put the HEV suit back on in HL2, i love that tune, it kinda tells you "Here we go again" it's awesome

Man I ****ing love the HL PS2 music!, i have HL on PS2.
I think the music is suiting to HL1 but not HL2, Hl2's music should bethe VALVe theme & the music u here when u put the Hazard Suit on.

PS Thanks for the links, This means I can hear this without having to have to resetup my PS2 lol
 
I alway's wondered what a good Half-Life theme song would be. There's this cool song from another video game that plays when you enter some haunted area or something, and the song suits Half-Life (the first game) VERY well, not so much HL2 though. It captures the survival/horror/action/sci-fi the first game had.
