So, yesterday, I was playing Half-Life 2 for the first time on the PC. I hopped into a pipe which had a lambda symbol next to it, and there were two supply crates. I approached them, and all of the sudden A ZOMBIE JUMPED OUT IN MY FACE. I nearly fell out of my chair, but managed to regain myself long enough to flail in all directions with the crowbar until it died.

Has anyone else had an experience that scared the s**t out of you? If so, post it here.

Wait till you get to see the proboscis of an Advisor sucking the brain matter out of your friend. You'll be excreting Tiffany cufflinks from the anus and emitting tears from the optical organs.

This is one of my favourite little moments in Water Hazard

The most scariest moment i've ever had in Half-Life 2 is a moment in Episode 2 when the antlion guard chases you trough the tunnels :p Made my heart pumping and blood boiling :bounce:

vegeta gets trolled on a daily basis

Played that yesterday, you don't want to look back because you know it's going to be right behind you!

The first time I played episode 2 and encountered the fast zombies with new corpse-like behaviour I jumped so violently when one lying on the ground jumped up in my face that it took me half an hour to recover from the shock. Now i always roll grenades over to them and then do confirmation kills with the pistol afterwards.

And i just remembered I did have another moment of nearly jumping out of my skin a few months back. I was playing Ep1 in the middle of the night and so had the volume down so as not to disturb my parents who were sleeping in the next room. I was playing through the hospital and was up to the point after the gunship and after Alyx gets her shotgun. I went into a side room to open some supply crates and completely forgot that there was a zombie in the bathroom. I'd just opened the crates when I glanced up and saw the zombie about a millimetre away. In the dead of night that scared me shitless.

In Episode 1, my flashlight kept running out because I kept sprinting away from the zombies. The only thing I saw was the red light coming from the zombines' grenades.

Late on a cold, dark friday night, it's raining outside and I'm playing HL2 with headphones on. Needless to say everything was scary like that, but those fast zombies, my god. You know the room, just after Grigori gives you the shotgun, where you're waiting for the elevator? And the fast zombies are screaming and slashing at you while you frantically try to reload. Hectic.

This one time, I was playing in the college cafeteria with headphones in and I was crawling through an air-vent minding my own business when suddenly a headcrab just dropped down out of nowhere and started jumping in my face and I started screaming and then everybody in the room was looking at me.

Beat that already, and the funny thing is I didn't get scared by it. Well, except for that one time a headcrab jumped at me from behind...

Yeah Ravenholm actually isn't the worst because you're expecting them there. It's not surprising. You're ready for it. It's in the nice pleasant quiet places that they're so frightening because they seem extra-creepy in comparison to ordinary surroundings.

Wait till you get to Ravenholm.
Ravenholm is probably the only chapter I didn't like very much.
It feels like it's trying too hard to be scary, and I don't think it fit into the Half-Life universe that well.
Lowlife, on the other hand, scared the shit out of me...

But the scariest moment in Half-Life is probably in Episode Two, with that heavy breathing, moaning zombie, that you can't seem to determine where is. I almost didn't have the nerve to go on, at that moment.

Oh yeah, that scared the crap out of me too. i was like "What the **** is that noise? Do i even want to know where it's coming from?" And the fact that once that zombie breaks down the door there is nowhere safe you can go. I tried retreating back onto that metal grate but it just smashed the boards down and left me cornered. The only way I can try and take it out is by launching an SMG grenade at the door as soon as it breaks it down, but in the enclosed space you risk getting caught in the blast and losing some health/suit energy.
