Half-Life2 Box Art Revealed?

I remember a picture with that one, plus similar Alex and G-man covers, and a Silver "special edition" looking one.
 
They are all mockups so far. You can expect box art similar to that of CS:CZ.

nah.. they had the official boxart at E3 last year, atleast official at the time. Could've changed, but I don't see why it would've
 
That's different thatn the one at EB. Gordon looks like he turned to the dark-side though. :devil:
 
I hope it isn't that Gorodn box - he looks silly there. The ones from e3 '03 were good (especially the silver one) but the simple black, with orange HL logo in the middle that's been on various mock-ups is also good.
Once again, our desperation for new info leads us to discuss the most trivial of matters.

At least we're not waiting for Duke Nukem...
 
The box could have Barbie on it for Christ's sake, doesn't matter to me as long as I get the game!

I think they would have changed it by now since E3.

I liked the older box too, but I'm just happy to see any preparation for the game's launch at all.

I'd play the game no matter what's on the cover, even if it had a picture of Tony Little.

the WMP skin has the alternatives, that I presume will be used for different versions (G-man for SE ; Alyx for Sp-only ; Gordon for regular)
 
I say Valve should hold a contest to see who could make the bext box cover. The winner gets their entry on every HL2 box should also recieve a free copy of HL2 as well as some T-Shirts and posters'n'shit....
 
I think the new box cover is great. *shrug* Looks a lot better than most of the game covers I've seen lately.
 
Gordon's eyes will drag new people to the world of Half Life

I like the box, looks cool - just the right amount of dark + moody
 
i like the box too. does anyone know when that was changed? i remember looking at that site from another link on this forum a few days ago and i swear it looked different.
 
looks good to me. i won't be looking at the box anyway. i'll be playing the damn game with case be placed in its holy shrine above my bed. ok maybe not...
 
Although I do not cre about the box art, here are some of my personal suggestions.

Gordon's head covers way too much of the box, it should be too the side more. You should see the Citadel city eating machine thingy (how's that for terminoligy?) in the background. Also, like the original, there should be some random numbers and equations and formulas and such, makes it look more mysterious and defines it as a science fiction based game. The Lambda logo is perfect, that is a must.

So basicly what I'm saying is that the biggest thing it needs is the citadel in the background.
 
You know what I think the best box art for HL2 would be, A completely black background with Half-life 2 and the HL2 symbol in Orange Metallic. Yeaaah :thumbs:

Simple, yet effective. I like it.

I do like the moody gordon one aswell.
 
yeah If thats the new box art I will be happy, then again I like the old box art too.
and Im probably pick up a special edition copy, hopefuly it is silver (like the ones posted way back at last e3)
 
It's the new box art for sure. Guy Welch posted the news that the box art was updated on the official Half-Life 2 VUGames forums on April 12, 2004, so I'm guessing that is approximately the time the web site was updated.
 
Will it be the kind of box where it has like a foldout thing like the original HL box? And what will be in there?
 
im still planning on picking up the special edition. i hope they still use the metallic box from last e3. i liked that one a lot. game boxes in general are nice to own. the box for max payne 2 was a good box.

It'll take you a while, I can't do it unless I take printscreen and use imageshack.

no, i'd imagine they are in game shots painted over by dhabih eng, one of their artists.
 
Just for my reference, i take it half life 2 is comming in cd-rom and dvd versions right?
So obviously they are gonna need different types of design for each.

(old) Rumor has it that the DVD will be the Special Edition, and the rest CDs

Hopefully this is untrue, and that the normal game will be available either way
I'd hate to have to be stuck with CDs if I can't afford the special edition
 
What is so bad about CD's? Ok, so you have more to keep track of, or the case is bigger, so what? Is there any other advantage?

DVDs also have faster data transfer rates

Dvd's are bigger, you require less of them and you usually get more content than the cd-rom versions.
 
Do Dvd versions usually cost more? Cos I got a Dvd drive and am interested in the features you have stated...

No. They're usually the same price, unless you get the special edition (with extras, think UT2k4's SE DVD)
