HalfLife not coming out this year

Speculations on the release of hl2. I heard from someone that went to E3 this year mention that Hl2 may not even be out till January. The game has not even entered beta and we expect at the the end of the summer? I don't knw I hope that that's not true.

I here they are going to port the original game into the new engine.
I really do hope they do it. I'll play through those again then delv into Hl2. now let's hope they add the lean abililty into it to. Call of dutty and Far cry did.


Right now Far cry is occupying my time it's a great. The AI is pretty good even at the lowest setting.
 
They themselves have said that they are shooting for summer, that's just wild speculation from someone.
 
well considering 30 sept. a summer release is pretty much a wild speculation from Valve...meh

Yeah I can see how, if someone f*cks up once, that automatically means that they shall f*ck up forever and ever. They've had another year, so think about that - maybe it's a tad optimistic, but neither you or I know anything to prove one way or the other.
And January? I doubt it...

I didn't say anything about January being likely...I just noted that if Valve can specualte a year wrong on release dates(serveral times) a vague "summer release" isn't too trustworthy... and almost as good as anyones guess...

No, I know you didn't say January - that was directed at the first guy, sorry should've been more specific. My point is that, whilst they were optimistic before and "targetting summer" is vague, doesn't mean by definition that it'll all go tits-up again.

And the release date is June, June I tell you! buahaahahha!! That's what I said 3 months ago and say now.

yes because clearly the two of them don't talk things over first :dozey: and clearly "Valve" doesn't cover both of them :dozey:
 
Side point: I don't think there'll be a lean ability in either HL2 or the new version of HL.

Actually, SGT Tenor is right. Apparently Valve has stated the game will not be finished until January 2005 because they're working on programming the most advanced leaning system ever into the game. :rolleyes:
 
They should probably hold it off until July 2005. It'd give them time to add all sorts of things, like:

Bullsquid mating behaviour.

That "Ass crab" that I heard they wanted to have in Half-Life.

Gordon's ability to bitch-slap people.

Actual Biozeminades.

And that scene where Alyx asks Gordon out for a date, but things never get very far because the G-Man is standing outside the restaraunt window, watching them both and putting a damper on things...

HL2 really needs all of that. And I need to get to bed.
 
I don't have to tell you it doesn't; you can just read the "Info from Valve" thread.

Do you really even need a leaning feature in a game like Half-Life 2? Does it sound like something Valve would incorporate? Heck, I know the leaning feature sure came in handy in Deux Ex: Invisible War. NOT.
 
I heard an aquaintance put Half-Life 2 down on the same level as Duke Nukem Forever.
That is the worst insult I have heard, so I told him off!

I made a deal with him, if it's out this year he buys me a copy, if it's out next year I buy him a copy.

I really think it will be out sooner rather than later, I mean come on, the valve guys haven't even taken a break to play Far Cry.
 
yea my bets on an 05 release..Valve says a summer realease but come on..its valve. :(

and this game isnt on the road to being the best FPS to date..its on the road to being the next DNF

Valve said that the game is playable from beggining to end and now they're just squashing bugs.
 
I'm probably just being optimistic, but a summer release date seems likely. I'm gonna say July 18th, because 1) it seems reasonable to me, and 2) it's also my birthday. What a wonderful present that would be.

Valve's credibility has gone down quite a bit with me, though. Although they may say that it is in the bug squashing beta stage, they also said that the whole reason as to the first delay was the source thievery. Now, they said it was a small factor, it wasn't the whole reason. there's no way in hell a source theft can cause 9 months of delay. in short, they lied, and like they said, bit off more than they could chew.

But still, i hold high hopes for this game, i'm sure once it does come out it will be truly awesome.

Look dude, the original HL was delayed 1 whole year. Look at how great it turned out to be. HL2 hasn't been delayed a whole year. In fact, it has only been delayed one time. All other dates were speculation by Vivendi. It will be out this Summer. I have no doubts. June-August.
 
I'm betting a November 10 2004 release, that's when Half-life went gold.

A friend of my cousin who works at McDonald's told me that Half-Life 2 will use the BUILD engine.

Right, I they havn't had any good experiences with lies before so, if they make a statement like that, it has a good possibility to be the truth. So, will see the HL2 icon on Steam 11. June, 14 days before you can play it, 11 + 14 = 25. the day I turn 19. Would seem like ment to be! :D

But as the main topics was, no freaking way, if they havn't playtested to their satisfaction at the end of 2004, I think they just release it and updates through Steam.
 
The will delay it for as long as it takes, because the biozeminades must be represented in their true natural splendor.

If they aren't putting biozeminades in, I will shed a tear. Also, the game will be released in Summer 2004.
 
They will release this summer for sure!!! Think of all the money they invested. It may be a game for us, but for them it's just business. The first delay cost them enough money. If they will delay it any further it might get outdated and that will be a disaster to them. So even if the game is crappy (i do not think so, i believe it will be a revolution, but IF....) they will still release it this summer.
Believe me: IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY IN THIS WORLD, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT
(I certainly do not!!!)
