Will anyone of halflife2.net staff go to the e3? are specialized game newssites allowed to go to e3 as press?

arent all the HL2.net staff from the UK? if you guys arent sorry, but im sure someone form the forums will go and pretend to be a journalist.

I reckon they would let them all in, :) , if they had a Halflife2.net Staff Tshirt or someting. :p

slicktick is right - most of us are from the UK and Europe, so we won't have an official presence there.

On the other hand, if any of our esteemed forum members are going, let us know and we might be able to sort something out with you.

ah, it would be cool if HL2.net was represented there.

After all, you are journalists.

Yeah, yeah! Good idea... Someone that lives by E3 NEEDS to go! Maybe the staff can get in touch with Valve or someone from E3 to authorize a representative from HL2.net to attend.

EDIT: Kinda OT but... It would be nice if people actually filled out the Location part of their profiles. It seems that when we talk about magazine release dates, pricing and the like that people get confused because of our different locations. You don't need to get specific but a country at least would be nice to know! I think it would be cool just to see where everyone is from too!

I'd like to go to e3 at least once. But since I'm in the UK unless I get hired by a gameing company/magazine/website I doubt that's going to happen. I'm sure that there will be a few forum members that do go though. Who knows, someone might even get some shakeycam footage for us :)

By the way, do you guys do this for living? I mean, do you get paid for updating this site? That would be kinda cool job

Someone from here went last year, can't remember who it was, but they sneaked in.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get time off work for this and didn’t have enough money to pay for a plane trip from England to the states and back :)

It would be nice if I got paid for maintaining this site but I spend a hell of a lot more money towards it then I get back :)

apparantly it's not too tough to sneak into E3, security is said to be 'lax' to say the least. I've seen posts from members of the public who managed to sneak in off the street.

Heh, that sure would be nice. Nah, we just do this for the good of the community, or just to look big and important :p

Can't we get in touch with someone with acess ?

RblDiver will be at E3 this year. He doesn't represent HL2.net primarily, but, we can get some info from him afterwards :)

Axed, the new news writer at Beyond Half-Life will be going to E3 and will be getting photos and video.

When is it? If it is after the 10 of May, I may be able to go because I have nothing better to do with my life.

[Edit]: Its in Los Angeles, right?

5-14? i dont think so, that sorta pretty long but im just guessing from what i remember..

i think it is from May 12 through the 14. That would be such perfect timing, just need tickets and a hotel room.

This year is out of the question, but I plan to go next year. And I'm heading to journalism school next year and this would be some great experience.

Well... heres to coming up with 350 bucks

well I would drive there. So I would have to worry about gas (not much of a problem), hotel (could be a problem), and tickets (the problem right now).

Yeah, ditto, so I would just leave it until next year

I go every year. I have been to every one except the one in Atlanta. I am an application programmer and have ties to some people in the industry. Anyway, I lurk in your forum and have for a while now. I don't post most of the time because most people just end up flaming you for what you say.

None the less if I can be of assistance to you while I am there I would be willing to post stuff. Up to you.

That would be very cool if you could do that. Thanks.

You see, you haven't gotten flamed yet. :)

I don't think anyone would flame you for contribution of e3 coverage : )
glad you started posting :D

Yes, I will be attending this year as well. I have it slated on my calendar every year and the wife knows not to keep me from going. If there is anything as far as interviews go that you want me to do let me know.

As Shuz said, I'll be going too, not representing hl2net, but I'll see if I can send something your way.

As for the journalism thing, that would sadly not work for this place. See, we were looking at trying to get HLRadio in on journalism credentials, but they told us that only commercial news sites (that is, ones that pay their workers) can get in (not even us, who sell commercials to keep the show going but don't pay our voice talent). So unless there is some sort of secret money scheme going on between the mods here (and if there is I want a cut to keep my mouth shut ;) ), don't count on it.

(Of course, we're working on finding a way to get those on our staff who can attend in, but until the final details are worked out, I ain't saying more than that, partially because you guys'd hit me, partially 'cause it may spawn rumors which are always fun to read heh)

heh, an exclusive e3-coverage for hl2.net would be really great. go mun go, talk to mako :)
