Halflife2.net Memories

[Ennui]

All right folks, this thread's simple, but nice and nostalgic, so I hope it'll be a hit.

In each post, reminisce about some memory, Halflife2.net related - gaming with a fellow forumite, or some thread from way back when (let's not go resurrecting any linked threads less it's constructive, please), some forum event, etc. As specific or vague as you'd like.

I'll start it off.

Counter-Strike: Source, surf maps with Qonfused and outpost last summer. Singing Nirvana and NIN into our microphones, much to the chagrin and dismay of the rest of the server.

Vividly, the memory stands out of Qonfused showing me his new spray in the spawn of one of the maps.

I'd have to recall those nights as well. Singing those lyrics and trying to sing them together... rofl.

Another would have to be when the demo for BF2 came out and HL2.net owning it up with 3 full squads on the same side. So much fun.

learning how to play surf maps with Zeus

going a straight week with posting every second that i could

The Munro Incidents were great, post count crisis #1 and #2 were both hilarious, the Battlefield 2 demo days, playing against -=256=-, making the first two stunt videos and, just recently, the assault video. Playing CS:S/BF2 with Qonfused and JNightshade along with various other people. Playing DOD:S with everyone last summer when it first came out and talking about making the dod:s machinima in the IRC channel.

There's loads more but that's the stuff that comes right to mind.

Qonfused, I'll echo that second memory as well. My best times in BF2 by far were during the demo, a squad with Redundant and Ritz and the rest... so caught up in the game's intensity, I loved it immensely - that rhyme was on purpose.

As a specific memory, my squad, led by Mr. Redundant, with me, Ritz, Amishslayer, Viperidae, running across an open field part of Gulf of Oman. We were ambushed by an MEC squad - a grenade exploded in our midst. Ritz was killed immediately, right in front of me. My screen blurred as her body was hurled sideways through the air. The rest of the squad hit the dirt and the cackle of gunfire filled my surround sound headphones as we returned fire, bullets thumping into the ground all around us. I crawled over to Ritz and revived her, and we eliminated the enemy squad.

Let's keep it to one new memory, guys. I want this thread to last, and so we can discuss each one

The munro incident, Foxtrot and Pes getting banned, Pobz (although he hangs around IRC now), That one guys with the Brian from Family Guy avatar said his house burnt down and was faking it, and got banned. My favorite moment was the night HL2 was releasing and the IRC and forums were filled with nubs asking if it came out or who had it, quite a crazy night.

Princess Jen, some guy (it was a forum member, too, whose name I don't remember anymore - Deathseeker i think?) made a second account and pretended to be a girl, posted pics and the site went nuts, some people formed a Princess Jen fanclub and were on the verge of sending her MONEY.

One of my earliest memories is saying how much music I had on my computer in some huge thread, and nobody noticing. I think I had come in in the middle of some conversation.

I remember getting in some fight with dreadlord l337. I don't remember what it was about.

I pwned some emo kid who was trolling. He got banned shortly after.

The Christmas carols were fun .

Spitcodfry getting to visit Valve offices was cool.
All the Valve tests with the whiteboard, and the hl2 php thing.
People finding out that they could get free posters from Valve just by sending in a nice email asking. I still have mine.
