Halflife2.net the Geocities website

Lol, geocities. Is that still around? And link doesnt seem to be loading.

Edit: loading now.

It was a sad day.

Yeah... I see now, but I still don't get it, there's unicorns and shit...

It's an homage to Geocities and the terrible sites it hosted.

i remember geocities and the like. had a band website on there.

**** it's horrendous just thinking about.

How the hell is anyone meant to read that text? You can't even see it properly! And what's with all the gifs that are totally unrelated to Half-Life?

Like the site says, "Make Any Webpage Look Like It Was Made By A 13 Year-Old In 1996"

I never got their URL scheme. Wasn't it something like geocities.com/nm/somecraphere/differentcarphere/anotherpointlessdir/onemoreforshitsandgiggles/username

It changed many times.

Right, yes, I get that now, thank you, Stern. :| Besides, it was a rhetorical question.

We don't need a Geocities parody website to remind us what thirteen year olds do with websites. Myspace already exists.

I didnt know what the internet was in 1996

Sent this to my father. He got a kick out of it.

I'd say I miss those days, but alas....

Awesome.

On another note: I was totally amazed the other day when I tried www.altavista.com. It still works! I feel kind of sorry for the poor bastards. OK, so it's owned by Yahoo, but still.

Does anyone find it sort of nostalgic?

Heck yeah. Man I used to love midi's. I probably still have bookmarks for websites with free midis.

I also freely admit to watching the "hampster" dance page and hundreds of different versions of its offspring. A few years ago I tried to go to one of the websites that had them all, but it doesn't exist anymore ;(

I also admit with great shame that I used to participate in chain emails.
