Halo 2 Expansion Pack on the way

Two of my mates play the game on their Eggbox. One of them loves it secretly and doesnt play anyone, the other admits that he bums it. I dont see what all the hype is about, its not that good when you go play HL2 or similar games.
Besides they had a tourny, i joined for a laugh....and won? If its a game i can play for the first time, on a machine i never use and own everyone, then its not worth it.

I'd say that just makes the game more accessible. If it's the first shooter you play, you don't want to get owned right off the bat, because that'll put you off the game.

Either that or you're just naturally talented with a gamepad and/or shooters.

AmishSlayer: You honestly want the old Pistol back? I was ecstatic when I learned Bungie was balancing out the arsenal. I mean, that gun was a three-shot kill in the first game, and it had a scope, and auto-aim. I don't like how they got rid of the plasma-weapon freezing effect, and the fact that the grenades are near-useless, but the pistol is fine as it is.

Wow, alot of people around here sure hate H2. Well back on topic the new maps look great!!!! :)

The pistol is what gave Halo balance...and they took that away in Halo 2. The pistol was the basis for combat in Halo MP because it was versatile and everybody started with one. You can't really complain about how the pistol is too good...because you have one too...get some skill playing with it :P Now the weapon that's supposed to replace the pistol is the battle rifle. It's not as good as the original pistol, but it's something. The problem is you don't start with the BR. The first thing you do when you spawn is go scramble for a good gun.

Take Coagulation for example - the old BG "upgraded" with rocks and trees and a crappy base layout...

Let's say the game is Team Slayer - 4v4 in Halo 2
Everyone spawns and starts running for the good weapons (shotgun, sniper, rocket launcher, etc). People start killing each other. Snipers take their favorite positions and start killing like mad (sniping has been made way too easy - no need for leading any more unless you're sniping across the ENTIRE level). Snipers never have to stop because of the quick spawning of ammo by the bases. Whoever has the rocket launcher has plenty of ammo at his disposal as well. One rocket ammo by the trees in the mid and the other by the rocks.

Now the game turns into a weapon control match. If the team is smart, they'll be working together to try and get both sniper rifles (both because weapons like the shotgun, sniper and rocket launcher do NOT spawn more than once...which is a MAJOR flaw with Halo 2) both shotguns and keep control of the rocket launcher so any vehicle attack on snipers or anybody else can quickly be thwarted via the new lame-ass addition of lock-on. The rocket launcher was lame enough in Halo 1. Now they took the skill out of leading vehicles too...way to go bungie. 2 snipers should be able to cover the entire level, the rocket launcher guy can wander around blasting vehicles and anybody else that comes near him and another person could be just owning it up at a base or just dominating the air with a banshee.

^^^^^
This summarized...the team that gets the weapons, wins.

Halo 1 was completely different. Everyone was on a level or almost level playing field no matter what gun a person had.

Blood Gultch - Team Slayer - 4v4 Halo 1

Everyone spawns with their AR and pistol. Players that are good at sniping go for sniper rifles while everyone just starts duking it out with pistols or shotguns if they're in the base or something. Snipers never got to be a huge, never-ending pest like in Halo 2 because they had limited ammo to begin with and there is no ammo spawn...just another sniper rifle with 8 more bullets rather than like 20 at the ammo spawns in Halo 2. If a sniper happens to be a pest and manages to keep getting more ammo...another sniper rifle will spawn and somebody can grab it and counter-snipe. Not in Halo 2.

Hell...snipers are just plain easier to kill in Halo 1 because of the pistol. The pistol-holder can take shots at the sniper from long range, hitting him every so often to knock him out of zoom so he can't get a good shot off. Now in Halo 2...a sniper doesn't even have to zoom to get a headshot (at least the players I play with and I can snipe medium range without zooming) and you need a BR if you're gonna even get close to hitting a sniper from medium/long range.

^^^^^
This summarized... the team with the best skills will win.

The pistol was the perfect starting weapon because it could be useful against any player with any weapon. Now Bungie tried evening the weapons out and they start us with a crappy SMG...now the game is all about who can get the weapons first...not who is better at the game.

EDIT: Heh...I bet hardly anybody is gonna read this post based just on the length :P

Just thought of another reason why I personally wouldn't pay to play extra bungie maps: my opinion of Halo 1's maps is very low. Most of them are bumpy terrain maps with a little flag closet to hide the flag in. It shocks me to even call that "design"

Most people have stopped playing it now any way because of sc3 and Timesplitters 3

I didn't buy into the hype. I clocked the first Halo and liked it, then got Halo 2 and loved it. Seriously, try playing Halo 2 for a month, then go back to the original for five minutes, you'll see how much of an improvement it is. It's a good game, nothing more, nothing less.

I have played Halo1 far more than Halo2, and yet Halo1 is still far more interesting. And the needler in Halo2 is just plain ridiculous. I have friend who was quite skilled with it in H1, but if I had a weapon I was good with, we were about evenly matched. Now, if he's dual wielding needlers, I basically don't stand a chance. Sometimes I do manage to get him, and then a second later all his needles explode on me and I die anyway...

Halo is trash period

Then why the f*** do you even bother to post in this thread?
And whats up with all the halo bashing?

It's because most of the people here are cold hearted PC gamers. :P

I liked Halo 2, fun if you get friends over, system link, 4vs4, custom game modes. I have to disagree with easy sniping up close, i find it near impossible, but, sniping from across the map is extremely easy.

EDIT: Yes, that is what i mean.

Sniping up close unzoomed is pretty simple. By across the map I mean from one end of coagulation to the other when the target is moving or in a vehicle. That's when you actually have to lead a bit.

Yes! It is by far the best party video game!

No just sick of all the halo fanboys thinking its the best game. Even though I am not really into the halo universe I recognize the quality of work and its really good. But its far from the best game. Not really a halo basher but just someone to keep the ultimate halo fanboys in check.

Wow, you must be one of those eeeeeeevil people from halo2sucks.com. :O
This got my hopes up... finally had someone understood how bad these games are and had created a website? Well no. And Datrix was wrong - for the residents of halo2sucks.com are idiots by virtue of hating Halo 2 because they loved Halo 1... which was even worse...

Therefore, I propose that we create a site called "halosucksbutsodotheidiotswhocreatedhalo2sucksdotcom.com" All in favour?

I wouldn't say it was way more sudden.

In HL2, the ending basically began with being captured and that scene in Breen's office. At that point you knew the game was drawing to a close.

In Halo 2 I fully expected another level. I was totally shocked when it came to an end.

I felt the opposite pretty much, well for HL2 anyways. I thought there was going to be quite a bit more to both games. Both left me somewhat disappointed when they ended. I enjoyed both overall though....
