"First off, the big news is that Halo 2 for Vista is making its public debut at the Leipzig Games Convention on August 24th through 27th. Those of you lucky enough to live in Germany will get a chance to play against each other in a pair of multiplayer maps we picked out for the show. Several of our key team members will also be present, struggling to explain keyboards layouts to German speakers using a combination of grunts, gestures and umlauts. Oh, and I don’t want to get you North American gamers too excited, but we’re looking at a possible US show in the near future. That’s Top Secret for now."

Does anyone know who handled the port? I'm praying it isn't Gearbox again.

Most interesting news here is the possible US show in the future...

As for Halo for Vista? What's worse than meh? :|

I just want to see how it looks.
Oh, well that might be vaguely interesting. I just never got into those games. After playing the first one ad nauseum at an xbox release event way back when, it failed to impress me in the least and I never turned back. Oh well. My loss?:p

I don't know, the first Halo was definitely a great game with its problems. The MP alone had made the game. Too bad the PC port was such a joke. Halo 2 was just a trainreck...

Yeah, actually the only fun I had was chasing my friend who was working there with me around the environments, but even then I was kind of wishing I was playing something else. :D

I'm guessing exactly the same, or at least very similar.

Then again, this is supposed to be a game to show off DirectX 10, so they might give it some extra bells and whistles. Halo 2 looked almost exactly like the first one, though, and to be honest, I doubt adding higher resolution textures would make that much of a difference in the end. It didn't for Halo 2. I can barely even tell them apart.

Well the graphical issues with Halo 2 on Xbox should be fixed. Pop-in, jaggies and low-res textures will hopefully be gone from the PC version.

Lol. How could that be possible?

I borrowed Halo for PC off my Uncle a while ago and it was terrible. There was absolutely no way that I could find of turning AA or AF on even though I turned it on through every option through the Catalyst Control Center.

for all of you commenting on how it'll look including any differences, read the freaking article.

Dx 10 emulation at a guess.

Halo was so so, lackin on the PC due to no Coop, Halo 2 I feel will be way too late to make any impact, Crysis or Halo 2....

Halo had the shittiest netcode EVER.

I thought the netcode was pretty solid, I never had any problems with it atleast.

Can't wait for Halo 2, it should be pretty fun on the PC.

Every single game I was in would lag like a mother.

Get a new pc and stop ranting then.

Im very interested in this. Halo was average but it was very fun. I have had halo 2 for so long and still never touched it tho. Waiting to finish some games then ill play it.

Yea you can emulate DX10, but it's called the Reference Rasterizer... God is that thing slow! It runs at 1-2 FPS max simply because it gives you 100% DirectX reference, so you can see how your code compares to the DX standards (and thus if it doesn't work on a machine but worked in your reference rasterizer, you know you have to add some hardware specific code, but that will mostly be gone with DX10 with the removal of cap bits, but that's irrelevant to this post :P )

They will have it running DX9...

I have a feeling they might have, you know, edited the source content :P This isn't just going to be Halo 2-with-shinier-normal-maps.

I hope >_>

Wasn't Crysis ran in DX10 emulation mode at E3?

Me too. They have to justify their reasons for porting it to Vista as opposed to XP. I'm hoping its due to DX10, but I'm pessimistic about that :hmph:

After all they could of easily ported it for the current DX9, so it would work for both XP and Vista

I agree, netcode is solid, pings no more than 15ms and lag is free on all servers I used to join with.

halo2 should kik ass, can't wait to see the graphics, and improvments over xbox

Well Nvidia has an upcoming Dx10 card in what? November\October? Maybe a early version of that?

I know ATI has better relations with Microsoft(Nvidia and Microsoft had a disagreement over $$ with Nvidia GPU's on the Xbox. So ATI is making 360 GPU's). ATI has also had time to work with some Dx10 specs before Nvidia because the 360 utilizes some Dx10 technology.

So its either a Dx9 game or a early Dx10 graphic card by Nvidia\ATI.

Everything I have read has pointed to Nvidia G80 to be releasing Late Q3\Early Q4 2006.

Got a recent source stating different?
