Halo 2 / Shadowrun Cracked for XP

Please get your facts straight. Vista will be faster than XP with a decent rig, you'll only notice a decrease in 3d performance. Believe it or not Vista can perform many functions faster than the same system running XP. Needing a machine capable of running Vista is a moot point and shouldn't be considered at all.

Well, that's kind of my point - I define performance as performance in games, and in games, Vista lacks(yes, I meant lacks). By the way, I have more than enough for Vista, and it's as much the incompatibility with stuff that turns me off it as it's Microsoft's way of being a bitch about us having to change to it.

Being unable to play certain games(Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2, Battlefield 1942), unable to use certain programs(Power desktop, WinRAR, AIM), and the thousands of pop-ups it has for everything.
I play can play Starcrat, Waccraft 3, and Diablo 2 perfectly fine on Vista(even without the proper registry files). Never tried Battlefield 1942, however i'd be shocked if it didn't work.

WinRAR works fine. Never tried Power Desktop or AIM, but i'm positive AIM would work fine. Never heard of power desktop.

Pop Ups? Turn UAC off and you get just as many as XP. UAC is pretty damn easy to turn off.

Except your blaming the wrong people. You are blaming Microsoft for poor performance in games with Vista. However the slower performance comes from drivers of Nvidia and ATI. Vista takes up a little bit more ram, however for the most part a lot of that ram usage you see in Vista is the programs Vista preloaded for you that you use the most which are given up at a moments notice if a game/application needs more ram.

Vista is an excellent OS. Most programs and applications work perfectly fine on Vista. So please unless you have tried Vista, don't complain about performance or program incompatibility.

I tried all of the above on my dad's friend's Vista powered laptop and none of them worked... they all give me an error of some sort. :/

I will eventually buy Vista, just not any time soon.

Another thread about Vista! ENOUGH ALREADY! D:

My guess it was the laptop's hardware. Because most people don't have any problems with those applications and Vista. Do you still remember the error it was giving? My guess is you wern't running as an admin but under a very limited account.

Why don't you try throwing in a cheap 20gig HD and installing a 30 day trial of Vista Ultimate on it? Then just run it from there.

ive tried the crack for halo 2 and it works very well. cant play mp but idc haven't played the sp yet.

Did I just read this right?
The crack works very well.
-You can't play MP.
-You havn't played SP.

So how do you know how well the crack works? Some cracks actually mess up the game accidently. (Hitman 4 has one of these and it bugged the shit out of me!).

Not sure about power desk. but AIM works fine as well as the others mentioned. Don't know about any of those blizzard games, never touched them :bounce:
Everything I've installed so far works including all of my games.

I'd rather not screw around with anything pertaining to Microsoft when it comes to cracks and piracy.

It's not like you're more likely to be caught... millions of people have downloaded Windows XP and I'm sure Vista is nearing its millionth download.

Well, they know that you are playing on XP because the Live system realizes you have a f*cked up cert. They are probably logging the gamertags of those logging in or trying to, and it's possible you could get banned.

It's not that hard because all MS needs to do is ban everyone in that list since hacking it for XP the only way you wouldn't have a valid digital certificate. Unless I'm mistaken, there's no grey area in this. Just white and black and we'll see what happens to those on the black side.

I started reading this blog post and had to comment about something he said.

Second, I know there are already hacks out there that enable these games to work on Windows XP. Personally, I derive pleasure reading the l33t hax0r forum posts on this saying how they stuck it to MS by doing this but if you think about it, they really haven't. They bought the game and they bought one or both of Windows XP and/or Windows Vista so from my point of view, we made out alright in that exchange.

As soon as I got to that point I chuckled and stopped taking this man as seriously. Even Wannabes can steal an OS, and probably have figured out how to torrent these games by now too.
