Judging by MS response, the perps are likely to face serious criminal charges. Also, it's veyr likely to be someone on the inside. I suspect they will find out who it was and ream them over and over without lube.

I meant making a thread about HL2 getting leaked just because some other game got leaked.

You're mixing up termonology. Leak and crack. You take a leak, and brown stuff comes from your... Ha ha. More seriously, a leak would be when something is released when it was not supposedto be released. A crack would be when someone broke / bypassed the protection. Chances are HL2 will be CRACKED, but I'm sure that Valve has taken the nessecary precautions to prevent an internal leak.

But the reason I think it got leaked is because a lot of stores probobly have the game sitting in their backroom and some guy took it home and ripped it. Its that simple, so the only way that Half-Life 2 will be like this is when its announced gold and is in store backshelves... but to me... its gunna happen cause it did to Doom 3 and now HAlo 2... sorry to say it.. but its gunna happen

Unlikely.. games like this, shops only get the night before release.

And to the post above me.. it is illegal for someone a fit a chip seeing as it is bypassing system routines, which it is not meant to, though having a chipped xbox is not illegal.

I fitted my own chip and all it does it activate debug features that microsoft put into their own hardware. So essentially it was mean't to bypass said security features.

Silly Microsoft.

I think chipping consoles is all a big con anyway. The hardware providers make it easy to chip consoles to help flagging sales once the hardware has aged (and it becomes profitable to actually sell the hardware).

Just because you can do something doesn't make it worth it. They're standing to lose maybe a couple thousand dollars on this. Why spend tens of thousands prosecuting?
