Newbie's Journey said:halo sucks.......the first reason it sucks is because it's a xbox exclusive game, the second one, there aren't much gameplay after shooting running and shooting again and running again...ok drive some vechicles, but the driving get bored fast and while playing single mode in the pc version, they don't let u to be gunner on the car.....

Warbie said:You can condense any shooter this way.
Halo (Xbox) is good because of the challenge it offers and the skill/practise required to master it. It was average on the pc (mouse and keyboard making the game too easy and borking the balance)
Challenge doesn't seem to be high a high priority for many 'pc only' gamers (immersion being the bigger attraction), which could possibly explain why most pc shooters are very easy. No single player pc shooter challenges me nearly as much as Halo.
Seeing as this is the one feature that makes the game great, it's understandable why many don't like it. Just accept that ppl want different things from a video game, and leave it at that
PvtRyan said:So Halo was great because of the controls that made it hard? Isn't that a bad thing? ....
I thought Halo was cool because the guns had a nice feeling when you were shooting stuff, which was basically the only thing you ever did.
ShadowFox said:Warbie, you can go on and on about challenge all you want.. but the only reason it was challenging was the bad controls. HL on PS was a lot harder.. but I didn't make it better.
If you like having these restrictions put on you in the name of difficulty, then good for you.
Warbie said:Perhaps - it's certainly less easy using a joypad than a mouse and keyboard (but easy doesn't = better, just different). Many of the best FPS i've played would be rubbish with a mouse and keyboard (Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Timesplitters etc)
It's still possible to be very accurate and skilled with a joypad ...... and in a way, it can be more satisfying than when using a mouse and keyboard. Add how poor using a keyboard to move is (in terms of immersion and precise, non-clunky, control) and how great trigger butons and rumble can be, and it's obvious why Halo is better on the XBox.
At the end of the day - Halo on the pc was easy, on the XBox it was very challenging and rewarding.
imo joypads are better for single player shooters (where immersion is the key) and m&k is more suited to multiplayer (where twitch reactions and precise control is the priority)
If you say so. I have never played Halo on the box. But I have played Goldeneye and while it utilized the gamepad effectively, I still would have much rather had the mouse and keyboard. Would it have made it easier? Yeah, but I don't like being crippled. I guess you do.Warbie said:That's just bollox. Never was I fighting the controls in Halo, never did they restrict or frustrate.
The reason HL on the PS was poor was because the controls weren't well implemented. They are in Halo (and other titles like Golden Eye)
ShadowFox said:DarkStar, I hope you aren't refering to me. I have acknowledged in the past that Halo is a well made game. But to me, the gameplay was merely adequate.
